On the Beach

“Poetry is the art of creating imaginary gardens with real toads”
Marianne Moore

On the Beach

They say, ‘Life is a beach’
If you want that high to reach
Eat and keep the peach
Then listen to no speech
Cut the strings and barriers breach
Just this moment siege
And you know, you have reached
Your life’s beach

Two

“Poetry is the art of creating imaginary gardens with real toads”

Two

Two of a kind
Is very hard to find
Maybe, of the same mind
Together, completely lined
But in reality, behind
Only the façade is outlined

To Coffee or not To Coffee?

Posted in Simply Poetry

“As long as there was coffee in the world, how bad could things be?”
― Cassandra Clare, City of Ashes

To Coffee or not To Coffee?

To coffee, or not to coffee,
Should that really be a question?

A coffee by any other name,
Would smell as sweet

When things get rough
The tough make a cup of coffee

People living in glass houses
Should drink their coffees out of cups

There is no place like home
With a fresh pot of coffee

Like birds of a feather
Two cups of coffee

Monkey see, monkey doo
Monkey drink their coffee too

To whom the bells toll:
It surely is time for a cup of coffee

Easy says as easy does,
Just make that damned cup of coffee!

When in Rome,
Have a cup of coffee!

Come to the dark side
We’ve got lots of coffee!

The Yellow Flower Gang

“Yellow,
flower power!”

The Yellow Flower Gang

We are a gang, made of material tough
But we never, have to play it rough
You may hear us say some odd stuff
We may have to say, ‘that’s enough’
But never out of spite but out of love

Sweet Cherries of Mine

“We’ll take the cake with the red cherry on top”
Navjot Singh Sidhu

Sweet Cherries of Mine

Sweet and juicy
Red delicious beauties
The taste quite fruity
Mix them in a smoothie
Enjoy them in a jacuzzi
While listening to Debussy
Soon you get quite loosy
Because of the sugary boozy
Dance like a looney
And enjoying yourself truly

Secret Path

Posted in Simply Poetry

“No one saves us but ourselves.
No one can and no one may.
We ourselves must walk the path”
Buddha

Secret Path

Find the secret path way
Through this world of grey
Where ever it may lay
All you need to do, is play

It may have been hidden
In plain sight
But if the bug, had already bitten
The adventure, already taken flight

With a backpack packed
Nothing will you lack
Make the coloured brick road
Your only goal

Opposites

“All colors are the friends of their neighbors and the lovers of their opposites”
Marc Chagall

Opposites

The other
Of a bluish colour
The other
Not at all duller

Opposites
In so many ways
Positives
You want to embrace

On Top of the World… or at least the Tree!

Posted in Simply Poetry

“On top of the world, or in the depths of despair”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

On Top of the World… or at least the Tree!

Swinging, from the tree top
Wearing, a nice new smock
But forgot my other sock
Listening, to some hard rock

Above, all the birds flock
Trying on the branches dock
But, any attempts, off I will knock
For this tree, is my magic block

If you try to make a pit stop
Here, on my claimed tree top
Then be prepared, for a shock
I will punch you out, on the clock

Naturally made Doughnut

“Donuts.
Is there anything they can’t do?”
– Matt Groening

Naturally made Doughnut

Mouth agape
For this round shape
But I won’t break
For its glorious taste

It wasn’t made out of paste
Not with sugar laced
As its round shape I traced
I knew, I would it embrace

Feeling spaced
My nemesis I faced
All inhibitions erased
And soon, I was in need, of toothpaste

Luminous

Posted in Simply Poetry

“To me, life, for all its privations,
is a luminous thing.
You have to risk it.”
Jeanette Winterson

Luminous

Illuminated
Elated
Dedicated
Awaited

Luminous things of nature
In this frozen portraiture
Not just a summer’s feature
But living, breathing creatures

Fated
Sacred
Created
Illuminated
