A Bench to Sit on

I was looking for
A bench to sit on
What I hoped to score
Something close to a lawn
To lay my tired self
On a softer shelf

Then I saw it
The bench, made of stone
When I tried to sit
I felt it to my bones
Too hard for a fit!

Moving forward
I found one, made of wood
Maybe it wasn’t hard
Rather suitably good
Too soft for a fit!

So once again
I had to complain
But I knew, the right seat
Was just in reach
I just had to seek

A little while longer
As I moved along
The feeling now stronger
I knew it wouldn’t be long
I was close to finding
As I saw the metal shining

I finally found it
A bench made of metal
For me to sit
Soft as a petal
A purr-fect fit

“Take a load off”

Time Out (Seat Sunday)

Sitting silently
Watching
People pass by
I ama
Out of time
Floating
In a bubble
As I am sitting
On my bench
Watching
Life happen
Trying
Not to flinch

Monolith

Writing 101, Day Four: A story in a single image

Yesterday, you found inspiration in one word and used it as a springboard for a post idea. Images — including photographs and works of art — can also act as starting points for stories, essays, poems, and personal musings. For this exercise, use one image as the creative spark for today’s post. You might use it as the setting for a story or poem, write about how it makes you feel, or describe a memory conjured by it.

“The gargantuan crystalline structure that towered three thousand feet above the lunar surface was both menacing and bewildering to behold”

Monolith

Tall, dark and mysterious
Standing by itself, all serious
Staring at it, getting nervous
Or maybe just a little delirious

The stone called the monolith
Sounding totally apocalyptic
With a background quite cryptic
Its appearance utterly terrific

Forgetting superstition
By my own admission
Completing my mission
Trusting my intuition
And touching the stone
