Friday the 13th for Freaky Friday

Posted in Freaky Friday: Tales of the odd and unexpected

“Don’t walk under any ladders,
Don’t break any mirrors,
Don’t spill any salt,
And don’t walk by any black cats.
Happy Friday the 13th!”

Friday the 13th

Lock the doors
And shut the windows,
Close the curtains
Because who knows,
What uninvited
Behind them lurks!

Switch off all the lights
Under your beds go hide
Better fright than flight

Just because today,
Is Friday night
Of the 13th kind!

Eavesdropping? No, just socially investigating! for Throwback Thursday

Posted in Throwback Thursday

“Sometimes I listen to strangers’ conversation and mentally give my opinion”

Eavesdropping? No, just socially investigating!

“By George we made it!” Emma shouted in victory.

“I thought we were lost there for a moment, but here we are. And all in one piece!” Marc added dusting off his jacket.

“Too bad we lost George.” Emma was feeling sorry for the poor guy.

Marc looked at Emma and with a sad voice answered: “The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few.”

“Or the one!” Emma added.

Marc hugged Emma as they were standing, both looking into the distance, thoughts on their lost comrade.

I was on my way to work, when I stopped by the coffee shop. Waiting for my order I glanced around the place and noticed three intriguing characters in the farthest corner table. Two men and a woman, obviously deep in conversation, planning something from the looks of how they were positioned. Huddled together, serious yet fierce expressions on their faces and looking like they were plotting something.

Being of a curious nature, interested in all human relations, I took a few steps closer, trying to catch a glimpse of what they were talking about.

“This has to go down today!” The woman said loud enough for me to hear from my position.

I was hooked. I inched even closer and secretly hoped my order would take a while to complete.

“Did you check the weapons, made sure we have enough ammo?” The other man asked from the one sitting opposite him.

“All checked boss! I also added an extra ingredient, just to spice things up! Can’t wait to see the other guys’ faces when they get hit!” He responded with a smirk on his lips.

‘Boss, hit, guns?!’

Some kind of heist or mob hit in the planning I wondered. I was shaking a little. The threesome sitting around the table did not look like robbers or mob members, rather like nerds or students. But never judge a book by it’s cover.

The woman then took something out from her bag and laid it on the table. It looked like a map of sorts.

“Are we all clear on our positions at the final stage.” She was pointing at something on the paper to the others.

“What if I change my stance here rather than here.” The other man asked the woman and the one he had called boss.

“No!” The woman raised her voice again. Clearly the other man had been wrong about who the real boss was.

She then continued, “No deviations! We will all stick to the plan as agreed before.”

The man just nodded.

“Excellent!” The woman responded, “Now as to the next…”

Her voice faded to the sounds of new customers coming in to the shop. A loud soccer team had just entered the premises and I could not hear the threesome’s conversation.

And then, my name was called out from the counter. My order was ready.

Pondering whether to ignore it and try to stay a while longer. Then again, it would look suspicious, if I would stand there with my coffee and bagels in my hand. Reluctantly I decided to leave. Maybe there was something in the newspaper tomorrow I could read about. After all, I was no detective, nor law officer. Just an eavesdropper on her way to work!

Emma and Marc were standing at the top of the hill holding their guns. They had finally won a battle.

“Poor George!” Marc was looking down at his friend, laying non moving down by the bushes.

“He was brave, right to the end!” Emma credited his fallen friend.
“Guys! A little help, please!” A voice shouted from below.

Emma and Marc looked at each other. Then started their way down the hill. They reached their destination and remained standing there, neither making an effort to help.

“Guys? I am dying here!”

“Well, it’s your own fault!” Marc told him.

“Yeah, you failed to follow the plan and got hit. Right in the forehead no less!” Emma berated him.

“Sorry, guess I should have cut back on the doughnuts!” Was the response of the fallen man, “I felt the energy draining away from me as I was running after you guys.”

Marc offered his hand to his friend and helped him up.

“George, you are a mess. You have paint all over your face!” Marc looked at the dirty face of his friend who had been hit by multiple paint pellets.

“Well, our team still won!” George replied with a big grin.

“We sure did George, we sure did!” Emma patted George on the back, “Thanks for taking one for the team!”

“Now, let’s go and celebrate our victory! Donuts anyone?” Marc added.

“Hear, hear!” The other two replied in unison.

Smokey Friday part one

“It’s always difficult to keep Fridays confined within themselves
…they tend to spill over”
Kai Sinclair

Smokey Friday

Smoke, on the water, smoke, on the asphalt, smoke in the air: That is not fair!

Friday was finally here. A time of joy, a time of parties, a time of all the things you could not do during the week, because you had to get up early and that meant going to bed early… see where I am going with this? Yes it was just that time, Friday, the day, freedom begun.

But as most of us may have feared, the weather gods in their great wisdom, had decided our fates to follow an other path. The cold damp outside, just made you want to stay indoors, close the curtains, cover the doors. Light up all the candles… oh this was certainly a scandal!

Smokey Friday

Foggy, cold, damp. Do I need to this list add? Oh why was this weather made to last?

I could not wait to get out of here fast!

Staring, at the bright coloured images on the wall, that moment trying to stall. Memories from the year last, were filling my mind fast. Wondering, was it still possible? Maybe if I let something go?

Thinking, thinking, thinking. One more look outside, and there it was: I had decided.

Running into the bedroom, opening the closet door, taking out my suitcase and quickly, not deciding,

taking out some clothing. Sooner than later, the bag was packed. I had just stuff grabbed and now on my way downstairs, passport in one hand, suitcase in the other. Anything else, I could not be bothered.

Calling the taxi, anticipating, blasting, why I had not thought of this sooner.

Never mind, better later I told myself as the taxi arrived and it I hailed.

The door slammed shut, I was sitting on my butt and on my way, where ever, because here I could not stay: preferably sunshine and sandy beaches, as far as the eye sight reaches….

Skeletons in the Closet

Posted in Freaky Friday: Tales of the odd and unexpected

“If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton,
you may as well make it dance”
George Bernard Shaw

Skeletons in the Closet

I found some skeletons, deep in my closet
I don’t know how they got there, possibly it was a good idea as a deposit
Now, I know this house is old, drafty and has leaky faucets
Yes, and it has caused quite the dent in my wallet

But as you can probably surmise
And imagine my total surprise
When these bones from the past
Out from their hiding splashed

So now, I am sitting on the floor
Carefully watching the door
Hoping to get these bones ridden
To a place safe, secret, away hidden

Unfortunately, at this day and age, I don’t have a time portal
Which could aide me to turn back time and make all normal
Make past things right, to not to run away from the fights
But, now I can only try to hide, that which I once let slide

People in glass houses, should not throw bones
Keep off your microphones and telephones in your own homes
You can never be too sure or safe
So just remember to lock your secrets in a very safe place

Before I go

“I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade…
And try to find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party”
Ron White

Before I go

I promised myself to take it slow
So just one more drink before I go
Boy, did that line have me sold
In this oldest of stories ever told

Now before you start with your hate and scold
And all things out of proportion blow
Let my simple story before you unfold

It had been, a damned hard week
On the first day, the future looked at best bleak
I felt nauseous, I felt weak
Not knowing where to look or what to seek

Monday, Tuesday, they were slow
Wednesday, I got a little bold
Thursday hit, also the proverbial fan’s shit
Finally Friday, lucky Friday
This was ultimately my day!

Things got done
Now it was time for some fun
So before I got to go
I just yelled ‘Hello!’

What else did you expect?
No more projects
No more work
(That lousy jerk!)
Only a time to hit the road
And let the fun times start to flow

Oh, and just in case you wondered,
And called out my number:
It was just a weekender
Spent on this bender

All work and no fun
Pardon the pun
Would start all over again
When dreaded Monday begins

Clockwork Apple (one)

Apple

If you’ve eaten a red apple
A hold of you it will grapple
There is no use to struggle
For the Evil Queen known to few
Has gotten, a tight hold on you

Clockwork Apple

Clock

Tick-tock, tick-tock
By the turning, of the clock
This rhyme was meant to shock
But, there really is no plot
If this was what you thought
And this place was not what you sought
Maybe you’ll say “thanks a lot!”
And feeling quite distraught
Never mind, fear not
Added, a few twists and a knot
But ended with this one shot
Neither story, nor plot
So what!

Bitch Perfect

Bitch Perfect

Call me the perfect bitch
Or just the worst one you can find
I may be a broom-less witch
But still the best of my kind

You may find me..

Taking flight
In the darkest of night
Or just taking a bus
In the early morning rush

You may see me…

Dancing naked in the pouring rain
Celebrating life to the fullest
Or just having a beer in a dive bar stained
Being one of the people dullest

You may catch me…

Casting the mightiest of spells
Cursing and not giving a damn
Or just talking to my mom on the cell
Just because, I can

Now you may see me…

In a new aspect
As a bitch perfect
Because that is who I am
Just because, I can
