The notorious part of the town
Clad in a glorious white gown
Don’t let the history fool you
Sit down on a bench for the view
Beautiful in summer or winter
No longer a sore splinter
Of the great city of Helsinki

Hakaniemi, One

Travelling in my home country, Finland and in the exotic capital of Helsinki. For this week I have chosen the (in)famous Hakaniemi, a stone throw away from the City Centre. Or you can just take the Metro or tram to reach Hakaniemi in four minutes from the Central Railway Station 😉

Enjoy!IMG_20160119_143845

Caturday, 2015-01-02, Part Two

The tourist of a foreign land
Came here to our strand
We let them snap some photos
And for them, strike a few poses
Scratching our backs
There is no lack
Of many a treats
Neatly we sit
Until all the pix
Are snapped
And the strangers all gone
Then we, just run along

Cats of a foreign land
Sitting on a lava strand
Too hot to fish
Too hot for a stroll
Guess, the best bet is
To hang around the bowl
On this lazy sunny day
Nothing else to do but lay

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2015-12-08

Posted in A Quote a Week Tuesday
& In honour of the month of December

quote-1

“Just living is not enough… one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower” Hans Christian Andersen

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2015-12-08

Today’s quote seems quite apt for the time of the year, especially for us living way up North, in the land also known as Finland.

During this period, we usually spend our days in total darkness, starting from October and ending only in early spring months. But, for what ever reason, today, we had a beautiful sunny day and clear blue skies as far as the eyes could see.

Odd indeed, but also an excellent photo opportunity for us pic-snappers and a good chance to soak in a few rays while hanging outside (naturally, in the freezing weather 😉 ):

“A day without sunshine is like, you know, night” Steve Martin

Leaves have fallen on the ground
The sun hanging low in the horizon
The warm colours painting the trees
The warm red as far as eye can see
November’s day cool and crispy
The weather maybe a little misty

October Saturday, Part One

Finally, weekend
Truly a godsend
A time to enjoy and relax
Lift your feet up and chillax

But, being my usual self
Could not just sit down
Grabbed the camera from the shelf
And ran down town

Sunlight on Saturday
Watching the shadows play
Colours of leaves in abundance
The birds and flies doing a dance

Sun warming the air
Not a time to despair
The cold and damp weather
Replaced by light and high pressure
