Cloudy with a chance of Rain

Photography & Poetry

“Conversation about the weather is the last refuge of the unimaginative” Oscar Wilde

Cloudy with a chance of Rain

Cloudy, with a chance of rain
No, we’re definitely not in Spain
Seems to be a repeating pattern
Maybe a joke by the Mad Hatter

Be careful to not get a frost bite
When you dip your toe into the lake
Or you might end up in a plight
And a most terrible ache

A summer’s day in July
Eyes focused on the sky
Clouds moving to the wind
Cold breeze on my skin

Should have worn a jacket
“But it’s summer” I quote with “brackets”
Let’s open the packets
And bring out the rackets

Summer madness or fun
Maybe we’ll see the sun
Before the day is done
And we have to run

So let’s enjoy this time of year
Without any doubt or fear
The winter soon enough is here
And the summer mood will disappear

“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever” Jacques Yves Cousteau

By the Seashore

I still remember
That one September
The bluest of skies
And it was warmer than July
The water clear and inviting
The air soft and delighting
Not a worry in sight
Everything quite right
In the distance
For an instance
A boat or two
Disappearing from the view
Most tourists already gone
Leaving us alone
Enjoying in peace
With a short lease
The last rays of summer

Photography & Poetry: A Day in Nature

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished” Lao Tzu

A Day in Nature

Sitting on a swing
Not worrying about a thing
Enjoying the simple life
Without a stinger or a strife
The air almost like silk
Time slowly passing by
Not one trouble in sight

Observing, watching, looking
What is nearby cooking

The hedgehog sipping it’s milk
The squirrel with it’s tail high
A bird gliding in mid flight
The flowers in the wind crooking

The clouds hanging softly in the sky
Exhaling, letting out a sigh
The last rays of sun on the skin
What a perfect fin
For a July summer’s day
The grass in a gentle sway

Photography & Poetry: Darkness and Light

“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it” Edith Wharton

Darkness and Light

Lurking in the shadows
In the darkest of places
A fleck of light emerges
Reaching out proudly
Out to the meadows
Up to the heavens
To the farthest corners
Daylight reaches
Without any breaches

Darkness and Light
Together they walk
Like Day and Night

“Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity” Charles Mingus

Sitting in My usual Place

I was sitting in my usual place today
Watching the clouds changing shape in many ways
Caught up in nature’s gorgeous display
I almost forgot my own part to play
I finally tore myself away for a moment
And snapped a few for your enjoyment
