“A railroad station? That was sort of a primitive airport, only you didn’t have to take a cab 20 miles out of town to reach it.” Russell Baker

Public transit, oh what joy!
But, before you shout ahoy
Read this story of ploy…

“A railroad station? That was sort of a primitive airport, only you didn’t have to take a cab 20 miles out of town to reach it.” Russell Baker

En route by Train

Public transit, oh what joy!
But, before you shout ahoy
Read this story of ploy

Early morning in January
I was really in a hurry
The venue was set in the city
And feeling a little giddy
After all travelling by train
Was not something to do in vain
Especially in the middle of winter
With temperatures below zero
And myself certainly no sprinter
And even less of a hero

Reaching the train station
After half jogging the way
Then I heard the notification
The train had been delayed
No indication as to arrival time
But they told us, all was fine
Just a minor snafu
The train would be there in a few

A few minutes went by
On the platform standing by
Then after a while
Waiting for the train to arrive
I was wishing I had taken the car
I would have been so very far

Oh what fun and joy!
Toes, fingers and nose freezing
The snow storm’s intensity increasing
Now I know, this was a winter’s ploy!

Polar Night for Freaky Friday

Polar Night

Presently:
“Darkness surrounds us.
There has been no spec of light for months, or possibly hours?
I am not really sure. All I know, is, that I have lost all track of time.”

Before:
In the darkness we lived for a long time. But then, “It” appeared.
A round object, in the darkest of skies. Super moon, they said. It will bring us light, they said.
Some speculated of another, possibly even more powerful, than the first one would exist.
Apparently, the objects did not appear at the same time, rather the other would disappear as the other’s time, was to shine. The more sceptic ones believed the tales to be told by fools, who had their heads in the clouds. The only thing proven to exist, was the darkness and its shroud.

Presently:
But, for now, we could only hope the tales were true, as we go on without dark little lives.
And daring to hope, that maybe, some day, the tales told by fools, would bring us the jewels
of light.

“And Fall, with her yeller harvest moon and the hills growin’ brown and golden under a sinkin’ sun” Roy Bean

Copper Moon

The copper shaded moon
Has reached its full bloom
Rusty and round
Lighting
The night ground
If you were looking for treasure
To be a person of leisure
Then this is
The wrong rainbow!

Moon, Moon, where art thou, Moon? (TBT)

“Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art” Ansel Adams

Moon, Moon, where art thou?

Moon, moon
Where art thou moon?
Come out from your hiding
On the nightly path guiding
Before off the trail
I go slipping and sliding

“And Fall, with her yeller harvest moon and the hills growin’ brown and golden under a sinkin’ sun” Roy Bean

White Moon

Shining brightly
Tonight oh so whitely
Like a Christmas song
Banging the gong
The full moon
Came out at noon

“Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star”
W. Clement Stone

Half-Moon and Red Sky

Lurking
Behind the red clouds

When you ask
“I am just working”
The moon man says smirking

And shines on
For yet another night

Distant Moon (TBT)

“And Fall, with her yeller harvest moon and the hills growin’ brown and golden under a sinkin’ sun” Roy Bean

Distant Moon

Spinning out from orbit
Like a sugar rush tripping hobbit
If you think about it
It may sound quite horrid
You may even feel worried
But, before you vomit
Another comet
May fill the empty space
And be a much nicer place!
