World Wide Wednesday in Cyprus

“Stop worrying about the potholes in the road and enjoy the journey.” – Babs Hoffman

Audience with the Almighty

Chanting in the background
Soothing, the low murmur sound
Someone, a religion had found

Sailing

“Let’s go sailing,
They said
You’ll have a blast
They said”

Now,
Seasick
Over the railing
Wondering
How long this trip
Will last!

Pipes

As I was up the hill huffing
I saw the pipes a puffing

My sweaty forehead brushing
I thought when severely blushing
“Should not have eaten that muffin,
With all that delicious stuffing!”

Seashore

“She sells
Seashells
By the
Seashore”

“He yelled,
A few hotels
Rung their bells
By the
Seashore”

Cavemen

Carved in stone
Possibly with bone
Record of the past
Made to last

Down the hill
Feel the chill
Enjoy the thrill!

Seat Sunday (2016-07-24)

“When in Cyprus, sit like the cypriots do”

Sitting, People Watching

On the seaside
By the roadside
As time slowly
Passes me by

Watching
Observing
Recording

Conversations,
Word exchanges
Life

Of the passers-by

“When in Cyprus, sit like the cypriots do”

Sitting on the Curve

As I am
Sitting on the curve
And watching
The cars swerve
It’s getting difficult
To keep my nerve

Seat Sunday (2016-07-24)

“When in Cyprus, sit like the cypriots do”

Sitting with lots of Stuff

It’s meal time
But, the table
Is not fine
Lots of stuff
Laying about
With a huff
Giving a shout

“Oi, you!
Get here
Ass in tow
Clear your grime!”

“Didn’t you hear the chime?
It’s nearly din din time,
And, my patience
Is running low
And, as far as I know
These ‘antiques’
Are just for show”

“So,
Unless you got
Something eatable
In that pot
Off with the lot
I have to put
Some grub
On the table!”

“Shut up,
Sit down
And enjoy
Your meal!”

Poetry, Day Nine: Landscape

The space(s) we spend our days in have such profound effects on us. Today’s prompt, landscape, invites you to explore your whereabouts and translate your thoughts into a poem. You could focus on the physical traits of a place you find beautiful, or on the way you interact with your surroundings at home, on the way to work, or when you’re on holiday.

“Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer – and often the supreme disappointment.”
― Ansel Adams

Ocean View

A magnificent ocean view
With endless shades of blue
Reserved, only for a few

Maybe
A place of worship
With a few virgins
Or
A place of searching
With thoughts merging
Perhaps
Some might call it
Nirvana
Or
What ever you wanna

The place of eternal blue
Quickly on you grew
Like a comfortable old shoe

And you
Would never want to leave
This place
With an ocean view
