When you take a dip into the cool ocean
Your body’s surrounded by nature’s lotion
While your mind fills up with pure emotion

Fabulous Friday 2016-01-15 : One

friday-1

A snowy sunny day
In the land far far away
Up North, let us pray!
Children came out to play
Even adults came forth

After all

What else is there to say
Because yet another
Fabulous and sunny Friday
Has found its way

Camera Lucida: Reflections

Poetry and Photography
Posted in week #13 of Camera Lucida Photo Challenge, Reflections

“It’s always interesting to look at reflections…are they really the same as the reality?
How many times did you look at your own reflection and wondered if that’s how the world sees you…?”

3

“The world is a looking glass and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face”
William Makepeace Thackeray

Camera Lucida: Reflections

Glass, wood, concrete
How this scene to complete?
Add a dash of colour
Maybe a selfie to follow?

Through the looking glass
Time slowly will pass
The observer’s delight
Is the turning of the light

Scenery, water, skies
Even a high rise
At this altitude
The surprise is an absolute

SL WEEK 15: Communications; Hot Gossip

Photo Challenge by SYLVAIN LANDRY
A response to Sylvain’s challenge theme of communications

“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place” George Bernard Shaw

SL WEEK 15: Communications; Hot Gossip

“Say what?”
“I was asking did you hear about Toddy?”
“What about Toddy?”
“I said Toddy got his back burnt badly and was taken to the hospital.”
“Oh, too much sun?”
“Sun?”
“Yes, sun. From laying on the beach?”
“No, I heard it was a cooking accident.”
“Cooking?”
“Yeah, apparently his sausages overboild!”

Gun’s Travel Log: Greece – Rhodes Island 3

A Greek isn’t just “very busy”…she’s “running without arriving” (τρἐχει και δεν φτἀνει)

Day One: Part Three: The Arrival

Gun’s travel log, stardate 08.08.2015, 11.00 EET (GMT +3)

Aeroport:

The flight was right on time and we landed on the Diagoras aeroport. The bus whisked us to the terminal, where the bags soon arrived without any hassle. The aeroport itself is very small, but comfortable. Not too much traffic, but just enough. Thinking ahead and wanting the brief vacation to run as smoothly as possible, we had spent the extra cost and reserved a private ride to the hotel.

Hotel:

Since we arrived at the hotel earlier than check out time (2 PM local time by default) we had to wait a few hours before settling in. The hotel itself, Amathus Elite Suites, Rhodes, was the option for us, simply because of the facilities and services offered: private pool and spa and of course the location: the north side of the island due to it’s cooling breeze.

At the hotel, the welcome was excellent and warm. And during our lengthened wait for our room to be ready (some three hours in the end) we were well taken care of: with coffee, fruits, juice and pastries and sweets and most importantly, free WI-FI!

After a quick tour around the complimentary services, we finally arrived in our suite. And of course, the pièce de résistance, the private swimming pool! Awaiting on ice: Sparkly wine and fruits. Now it was time to shed off the travel clothes and dip into the turquoise pool!

Photography 101: Day Three: Water & Orientation

“We have different relationships to and stories about water: how it has saved or defeated us. How it reminds us of family vacations, outdoor adventures, or the hot summers of our childhood. How it might symbolize a place we’ve left behind, or a location we dream to go.”

Todays locale, the beautiful bay area of Haukilahti, Espoo in Finland. The marina with it’s many boats and the quaint restaurant named simply as the Haukilahti Pavilion is an excellent place for visitors and local people to spend time in. Whether you are a jogger or enjoying a peaceful moment, or setting to sea, the views are magnificent and sea breeze will cool you down even in the hottest of weather. The Pavilion serves also as a restaurant and is known for it’s tasty salmon soup; a good choice for a meal in any type of weather!
