Stuck Between a Poem and a Hard Place

I am a poet
But did not know it
Now I am writing
Lyrics without biting
The bullets
My mind to the fullest
Hammering the keyboard
Not a big chore
No, not anymore

Ever since I started
I cannot be parted
From the blank page
That clean slate
Words pouring
My heart roaring
I feel elevated
Totally animated
Full of excitement

I am completely and utterly
Lost in Poetry

A poem a day keeps the Shrink away!

I am Out of Order for Today (Repost for TBT)

โ€œThe elevator to success is out of order. You’ll have to use the stairs… one step at a time.โ€ Joe Girard

I am Out of Order for Today

Call it
A writer’s block
Or a total lock
My mind just
Put up the sign

“Empty room
For hire”

I will not pine
Somewhere
The fire
Can be found
Lifting me
Off the ground

To unblock
I will catch
The hook
To unlock
My writer’s mind

out of order

I write, therefore I am

Writing 101, Day One, I write because . . .

“Why do you write? This is a question you can answer again and again, as your response might evolve over time. You may have already addressed it in a previous blog post. Some bloggers also use this question, and variations of it, to shape their bios and About pages. Why am I here? Who am I? Why do I blog?”

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing” Benjamin Franklin

I write, therefore I am

I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t writing.

I did my first “screenplay” at the age of five with crayons and forced my whole family to watch the Christmas play I wrote, produced and even acted in too! Later in my teens, I started writing fan fiction for my favourite shows on television, way before the internet, fan fiction as such and even personal computers were invented. I loved the weekly challenges for writing in school and of course, I was a book junkie too.

Writing for me has been sporadic at best and I mostly consider myself a closet writer. I am in the closet, out of the closet, back in and now finally out again, publishing on the internet as much and as often as humanly possible ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am also a poet, and did not know it: True in many ways, as I write from anything and everything. My inspiration can be a phrase I heard on the lift ride or something from the morning radio. Mainly, these days, I get inspired from the pictures I take.

For me, personally, writing is an creative outlet for the mundane working day. If I do not write, I am be a very, very, very cranky person ;P

My motto is: A poem a day, keeps the mental doctor away!
The second motto is: Write more, complain less!

I follow these guidelines every day, no matter if it is a holiday or working day. If it shines or rains, I’ll be there, in the internet, writing on my blog!

Moonlighting

Photography and Poetry

“Another night, another shift, in the moonlight filled lift”

Moonlighting

Sitting down, typing
Part from the moon lighting
The room is pitch black
The rhythmic clickety-clack
On the laptops keyboard
Possibly the only chord
Which can be heard
In this very absurd
But well known scene
With too much caffeine
Trying to cross the finish line
And meet the deadline
Feeling much like a slob
Even if an unpaid job
Still keeping on writing
Despite only moonlighting

There is no Try, just Do

This morning I woke with a huff
Thinking I had had enough
Cranky tired, uninspired
Fully setup for a fail
Checking my email
Another assignment
What an annoyment
Not an idea in my head
Wanting to go back to bed
But the little sound
Getting more and more loud
Urging me to at least give it a try
Heck, it wasn’t as I was learning to fly
So I did and finally am completed
Even though feeling completely depleted
But still respective high
Now the sun has gone to rest
And soon so will I
I wish you one and all
A good night and all my best
Tomorrow another day to tackle
But that’s another story, another haggle

I Blog therefore I am

“If I waited until I felt like writing, I’d never write at all” Anne Tyler

I Blog therefore I am

Today is my day off, so I have some extra time on my hands (Laughs out loud; good joke that one! While trying hard to catch up with a lo-oong list of uncompleted tasks!) I had to take the day off just to be on the safe side, and well prepared for the up and coming huge “Five O” day tomorrow. Readying myself for the celebration (read awaiting in horror of dooms day!) ๐Ÿ˜›

I have gotten a few questions on “how I manage to keep up and publish posts on daily basis” and decided to drop this little note to all you bloggers out there.

I promised myself a while back to write “at least” a poem a day, if nothing else and I have almost achieved that goal. I also try to post them daily, or then at least catch up the next day with a couple of posts. The writing is mostly for myself, but I am glad others enjoy it as well. It is also good to keep up with publishing(posting), so that your readers have something to come back to.
Let me share this one personal thing as to why now:

If I hadnโ€™t started writing again earlier this year, I would probably have suffered a second burn out during my current career. For me, personally, both writing and photography are outlets to a hectic day at the office and, well, life in general. Sometimes I end up staying awake all the night typing away, even though knowing I have to go to work early in the morning. I still see it as time well spent. And, even though tired the next day, I feel happy and exhilarated for the simple fact I actually am producing something concrete and interesting, which unfortunately, doesn’t usually happen in the day job.

Quoting myself from one of my posts: “A poem a day keeps the shrink at bay.
A great guideline to follow and it is working for me at least.

My advice, in case you asked, is, to set yourself some thirty minute aside each day and if nothing else, pour your minds flow onto the paper or as it is in these modern days, in bits and bytes. I know this may sound like cliched advice, but it’s better to force yourself to a routine of writing rather than postponing it for one reason or another. I know there are always excuses as to why not, but in the end, if you have a passion for writing, the excuse are just that – excuses.

Hang in there and donโ€™t stop writing, EVER!
