To boldly go where no Woman has gone before

“Well, it’s worked so far, but we are not off yet” Dr McCoy, Star Trek

To boldly go where no Woman has gone before

“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”

Cosmos,
The final
Frontier
So far
And yet
So near

Entering the spaceship
Ready for a long trip
Going to Mars?
Or even farther beyond?
Following the stars
Over the magic pond

Through the window
Feelings of alone
One trail of thought
As the mental guide
Trying not to get caught
In a state of confined

As the flight progresses
I feel less stressed
What ever awaits me
It only can be
Something wonderful
And most magical

To boldly go
Where no
Woman
Where no one
Has gone
Before

Writing 101, Day Fifteen: Take a cue from your readers

Writing 101, Day Fifteen: Take a cue from your readers

Remember the contact form or poll that you set up earlier to collect suggestions from your readers? Write today’s post based on one of these ideas. Be sure to mention the person who gave you this idea, and link back to their blog. (Don’t worry about giving credit if your idea came from an anonymous poll.)

If you don’t have any ideas, here are five passages you can choose from (and sample prompts if you need them):

“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”

— Astronomer Carl Sagan

What does the line above mean to you?
“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”

— J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

I have faith in . . .
Are you optimistic?
Tell us about a challenging journey.
“Our truest life is when we are in our dreams awake.”

— Unknown source, from a fortune cookie

Have you ever felt awake, but in a dream?
Have you received a message in a fortune cookie that moved you?
“We read to know we’re not alone.”

— William Nicholson, Shadowlands

Tell us about a book that opened your eyes when you were young.
Describe a life-changing experience with a book.
Where do you like to read?
“Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.”

— Maya Angelou

Tell us about a time when a piece of music moved you.
Do you have an all-time favorite song? Why is it significant?
Compile a playlist of 10 tracks that represent you.

The snow fall finally came

Sunday, 22nd of November, Part One

On the 22nd day of November
The snow fall finally came
And one centigrade of minus degrees

The white dust on the ground
Everywhere to be found
Where the heck is my car
Couldn’t have left it far
Grabbed the snow shovel
Moving my muscles
Soon the path is clear
Feeling like a pioneer

On the 22nd day of November
The icy cold rain
Hit the bloody plane
Due to one centigrade of minus degrees

I just hope the roads won’t ice over
Or I’ll be prancing like a four leaf clover
Trying to cross the roads
In the early morning hours
On my way to work
Trying not to go berserk
When it’s really dark
Only dogs will bark

On the 22nd day of November
The snow fall finally came
The icy cold rain
Hit the bloody plane
Due to one centigrade of minus degrees

“Because it’s a bench”

Old Town Benches

Sit down
Have a rest
In the old town
No need for stress

The history
Of this city
In one glance
Fall into a trance

Close your eyes
Let the millenia
Take you down
The memory lane

World Television Day 2015

An homage to Television
World Television Day

MAIN

“We owe a lot to Thomas Edison – if it wasn’t for him, we’d be watching television by candlelight” Milton Berle

World Television Day 2015

Where would we be
Without our TV

No one or nothing
To guide us
Shining the light on us
The knowledge and wisdom shared
For no one can be spared
From the power of
Television

Long live Television
Our one and true vision

Homage to Keith Michell

An homage to Keith Michell, actor extraordinary; RIP

“The King is dead, long live The King!”

Homage to Keith Michell

Dennis Stanton
Henry the Eighth
Shakespeare, Ibsen
Radio, Television
Quite a long slate
For the “down under” mate

An actor from a different era
A painter and an illustrator
From musicals to theatre
A multitalented entertainer

The King is dead
Long live the King!

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather” John Ruskin

On the 21st day of November

On the 21st day of November
My true love sent to me
One centigrade of minus degrees

On the 21st day of November
My true love also sent to me
Lots of icy cold rain
Several snowflakes of dancing
And one centigrade of minus degrees

On the 22nd day of November
I wish for my true love to send to me
Many more warm degrees
Much of sunshine weather
Or a trip to Hawaii
