Friday, the 13th?

“Happy Friday the 13th. Satan texted me saying watch my back…With a winky face.”

Friday, the 13th?

The tale told below
Was it based on a true story?
Or just pure fiction?

That, my dear reader
Is for the writer to know
And for you to enjoy!

office

As I arrived in the office, the place seemed more quiet than usual.
At least this early in the morning.
Sitting in my seat, pondering, where everyone else were.

No emails, no calls
No contacts at all
Had I mistaken?
Or too early awoken?
Was this a wrong day?
A Saturday, a Sunday?

Thinking about it, the traffic had been oddly light.
Even though it had been early morning time.

After a few hours of waiting in solitude, people I had never seen, entered the room.
Talking in strange languages, sounding like a record been played back the wrong way.
I was observing them. They did not seem to notice me.

Passing me by
Wondering why
Seemed like a dream
So unreal did it seem

I tried to greet one of them. I kept repeating
Hello, hello, HELLO!

But unnoticed
Even by the closest
Visitor did I go

Getting irritated, I did no longer hesitate.
Jumped in front of the nearest stranger.
I did not feel I was in any danger.
Waved my arms and shouted.
Like a mad person undoubted
.
But nothing, no nothing stirred the strangers.
As if I wasn’t even there…

Maybe, just maybe
I had turned invisible
Or maybe,
It was all, just a dream

After all
It was Friday the 13th!

Going Old School

“Phoning home, never looked more complicated than when you had no coins to put into the slot!”
Gun Roswell

Going Old School

When the phone rang
There always was a pang
Heart skipping
Before finally dipping
To the cool and calm
Answer mode of yesteryear

“Roswell residence, lady of the house speaking”

The conversations often polite
There was no need for shout
The telephone remained in the same old place
Where the books with plenty of names and number remained
The good old days when no one was on
Twenty four seven! Oh come on!
It was attached with a cord to the wall
Sometimes, you wanted a moment for yourself to stall
Just yanking it out, with a evil smirk
And then went on with your chores
If anyone would dare to call
The answering machine would let them know you weren’t at home

But now, those days are gone
What remains is the nostalgia of something odd
The old telephone device
In a home museum resides
And picking up the call
On this new and nice smart phone

“Hell no!”

Pressing decline
And hey, I am felling just fine!

Coffee made me do it!

Today I went off the edge
I didn’t even take a pledge
I pranced around like a Fred Astaire
The others looking with a stare
Laughing out very loud
And feeling extremely proud
An old tune from years ago
Nothing to stop the show
I started singing that tune
Not being any kind of prune
Why this happened you may ask
It wasn’t anything from a flask
Though I have one excuse to acquit
The Coffee made me do it!

A Break after Christmas

“A beer with some cookies, certainly a well deserved snack after X-mas” Gun Roswell

A Break after Christmas

When the holiday season is celebrated and done
It is the time for the Christmas labourers to have some fun
A well deserved break with family and friends
Before the big bearded boss them back to work sends
Some beer, burritos and a few cookies to enjoy
Makes forget the hard daily chores and shout ahoy
Seated in the North Pole’s one and only cafe-bar
Since there is really no time to go too far
Soon the bell beckons them all back to the ever going assembly line
Because next years stuff needs to be started in time
So don’t blame these busy bees of getting a tad drunk
It’s just to get out of this seasonal funk
And soon enough with a big fat smile on their faces
They will be working all over them places
Putting together all things on people’s lists
Yes, those are the elves, who’ll manufacture all your gifts

Monday blues

“It usually happens, on Mondays, the blues, Monday blues” Gun Roswell

Monday blues

Looking out the window
Window, with a big frame
Frame, so large and pointing to the yard
Yard, between the big houses
Houses, which are built so tightly
Tightly, that you can hardly squeeze
Squeeze your tiny self, between the buildings
Buildings which are forever growing taller
Taller, while me, myself, am growing smaller
Smaller, but not that of my dreams
Dreams, of the wide open sea
Sea, with all the shades of blues and greens
Greens, like the forest hardly ever seen
Seen only, in my, eternal dreams
Dreams, so big, it makes me think
Think, if I will ever be able to see
See the true forest of green or even the wide sea
Sea, where the blues are so cool
Cool as the bluest of skies above
Above he wide open calm ocean
Ocean, which will be never ending
Ending only, if I stop, dreaming

It’s Friday the 13th (again)

“Happy Friday the 13th. Satan just texted me, saying, to watch my back…With a winky face.”

It’s Friday the 13th (again)

Anecdote time: Or, words a twisting

Anecdote time: Or, words a twisting

Never judge a book by its cover. A paperback can be just as entertaining as hardcover.

If you want to dwell in the past, buy yourself a time machine.

You have to learn how to walk before you can run. I found out that the hard way after my hip-surgery.

Looking into a mirror is like… Well, you obviously need to take a selfie!

Time, time, precious time, where have you gone? Don’t tell me, you lost your watch again?

In my youth, the grass was always greener, food tasted better and life was much happier… Then we woke up and put the dog out to pee.

Walking a mile in someone else’s shoes… Be damned sure they are the same size as your own ones!

Today, I woke up, the day was stormy, the skies were gray, my mind felt dull... Well, you can’t always expect to be in the tropics, now can you Dearie?

Don’t do as I do, do as I say! Apparently, you can get away with murder?

People who are smart, beautiful and talented… Really piss me off!

Caturday on Kos Island

“Are you looking at me?
You, looking, me?”

“Nah, I’m just resting here for a while
It’s cool, hope you don’t mind!”

“Well, as long as you remember,
You are in my turf now
So just move along before the clock hits September!”

Signs of our times

“These are the signs of the times” Gun Roswell

Signs of our times

The sign said “Today is, a great day, for shopping”
Now, did not hat make you pause for a stopping?
Enter a store, for something special to score
Maybe something to adore, something even more?

But did you not already have everything you needed or wanted?
Is there a need for more of the fortunes to squander?
It really makes this one person wonder
Why you would need the more and not just the one thing

“No entry this way!”
Much to my anger and dismay
The sign of today
Did not leave much of a choice to play

“No, never, not”
These words twisting you into a tight knot
The negativity filling the clear air
Feeling the rise of all my skin hair

All of a sudden, the taste too musky, the air too misty
Throat and stomach a twisting
No clear air for breathing
I am getting that all consuming sinking feeling

The signs of our times
Sometimes, make you smile
But more than often
The missing of soften
Leaves you hard and hollow
And in utter and complete sorrow

On the edge, or a tall order

“Nothing can save us now, except coffee” Gun Roswell

On the edge, or a tall order

When that specific mood hits
And you are standing on the ledge
Close enough to jump
Take that one final plunge
In good or bad the need of courage
Is like eating a bowl of too hot porridge
Some say it just may
Be that of a one too tall order
Alas a savior at hand
Just there, were, you stand
A tall glass of the darkest of liquids
Will never let you quit
