Crete revisited – Water life

After twenty-five years, it was time to set foot on the island of Crete. Yes, years do fly by so fast, it’s better not to start counting backwards, rather use the safe term “a few years ago”. It was interesting to see, what had changed and what had not. Of course, this wasn’t a whole island trip, rather a one week fun packed package holiday in the midst of the working year. But still, there is no law saying, it can’t be enjoyable. But moving on, the island was lush green, as it was spring time and not too many tourists yet, since it was off season.

So, what is the number one thing to do when in Greece? Go to the beach, of course! What else did you think? Well, a beach, pool, spa, any kind of water source really you can find, and believe you me, there are plenty to choose from. All clear, blues and turquoise shades, some with waves and others more calmer soothing places.

Take your pick on the activities, be that sightseeing while hiking up and down the hills. Go fishing and catch a tall tale (at least). Or simply relax and bathe under the sun (better stay under the parasol if you are from the North like me!).

The cat, on a chair

The cat, on a chair

A cat, just came out of its own lair
An now, he is sitting, on someone else’s chair
Owning, everything, some may say, is not fair
But try to tell the cat that, and he’ll give you a really good scare

The cat, is the master
It will make you go faster
Than you had ever thought
Just to go get him some froth

Dare, at him for long enough to stare
You’ll find out, your eyes will forgo a big dare
Just accept, the fact, that you’re his property
And no one, has to walk away, angry

Crete revisited

Taking a nostalgic trip, to re-visit forgotten places
Which mind and memory, long since have replaced
With images stored, in an album, never browsed
Despite all the effort, made promises and vows

So now, here I am, sailing across the seven seas
Letting my mind at ease, for carrying all the keys
Unlocking, and bringing forth, all those memories
Names, places, even faces, coming out of stasis

As the ship the designated harbour reaches
Looking forward to those sandy beaches
Clear waters, sea otters, dolphins and other creatures
As they all on the postcards were featured

When the captain let out a shout: “Land ahoy!”
I knew, this was not a dream nor a decoy
I had finally landed, as per trip advisory had planned it
Starting my trip, quite nostalgic
