Coffee, Coffee, Coffee and some more Coffee… yes please!

“Waddaya mean I had too much coffee today? (Trips, stumbles, does not fall, while reaching for the next cup)” Gun Roswell

Since the dawn of time when humans first dropped down from the trees and started walking, their first trip must have been to the closest Starbucks for some coffee.

Remember the classic film “2001: A Space Odyssey” and first scene where the prehistoric man is bewildered when a big black block lands before him? What if instead of the monolith a giant cup of coffee would have landed? I think we would have evolved much faster and would be more advanced today if that would have been the case 😉

But let’s move forward in time and to present day.

I have dropped in a quite a few suggestions (read request) in our office “suggestion box“: Add to the list of necessary office supplies an IV drop filled with coffee. Each worker would then be hooked into the IV every morning and during the day; a dedicated person would circulate around the office and re-fill the empty ones.

But seriously, coffee is the one good drug that keeps this world up and running. Here is an example of an ordinary working day:

1st cup: 06.00 AM: Eyes barely open reaching for my glasses on the night stand sniffing for that precious aroma. Nothing yet! Half running downstairs praying the automated coffee maker has not suffered from any kind of electrical stroke during the night and my coffee would be there waiting for me.

It is! Hallelujah let the day begin!

2nd cup: 06.20 AM: Morning ablutions behind me, standing fully clothed ready to take off to work, gulping the second cup of coffee while reaching for the door.

3rd cup: 07.00 AM: In the office, turning on the coffee machine before even reaching for the lights in the darkened office. Impatiently waiting while the machine is making its morning sounds before I can insert my coffee capsule into the damned thing and get my coffee (Note: It’s a double shot just to make sure I don’t run out before I can tackle today’s pile of work).

4th to 6th cup: 08.00 to 11.00 AM: A steady flow of “double shots” for each cup to keep up the pace of the day and a smile on my face.

7th cup: 11.30 AM: A cup of coffee to complement a tasty lunch, of course 😉

8th to 9th cup: 12.00 PM to 02.00 PM: One for each scheduled meeting for the afternoon.

10th (to 11th) cup: 02.15 PM: It is finally time for the afternoon coffee break! (In reality this is a very large cup so guess it counts for two or more…).

12th cup: 03.00 PM: Last squeeze (and cup of coffee) before the day’s work is done!

13th cup: 04.00 PM: Time to leave for home, one more for the road…

14th to Umpteenth cup: 05.00 PM to Midnight: After a full day of work, I managed a full hour of exercise, went grocery shopping and vacuumed the whole house. Albeit I was so perked up from all the coffee I managed to get to bed early (around 2 AM) after cleaning a few closets and taking the dog out three times during the evening for a brisk walk and of course, having a cup of coffee here and there; P

The lesson learned: There is no such thing as too much coffee!

By the way, last time I had my yearly check up at the doctors, the conclusion was: there was far too much blood in my caffeine circulation!

Winter Morning with another Cup of Coffee

“There is always time for coffee, morning, noon, day or night time, it’s all just fine, if you really enjoy the dark liquid kind and to have a cup of it, when you see fit” Gun Roswell

Winter Morning with another Cup of Coffee

There is always room for coffee, in the stomach, someone said, even if it was some other time a clock, usually not associated with the fine sustenance of a dark liquid, but if one was prepared, for the full effect of the stuff, then drinking a cup or two, would suit, no matter the hour, as long as the face did not go sour, simply because the lack of coffee, was ever present, so, better satisfy the urge and have that drink of it, the coffee, in a cup, or a mug or even jug it directly from the pot!

Because believe it or not, those rules and regulations for sleeping and consumables, was most likely created by someone who hated the stuff, both coffee and well, food and perhaps even people, as all of us, are mostly individuals and so, enjoying the good stuff, coffee, does not have to be at any given hour, even midnight will do simply fine.

Coffee makes the world go around

“Coffee, one large cup, please” Gun Roswell

Coffee makes the world go around

Coffee turns the world
When on its axel it is hurled
Dark fine liquid in it’s veins
The oceans and lands stains

Coffee makes the world
Sustaining its living herds
Life as we know it turns
Each day because of this miracle cure

Coffee is the world
Life each day due to it churns
Every single thing it’s praise sings
And peace on earth with every cup brings

Coffee, Life, What’s the Difference?

“The sweet elixir of life, whatever it means to each and every person, is different, but Coffee for sure, takes the lead in my book, without any strife!” Gun Roswell

Coffee, Life, What’s the Difference?

Becoming more adult, the tastes from when a child, start to develop to a more, subtle direction, at least, that is the general consensus of things, and not all do agree, as growing up and becoming an adult are two different things, and so, how we muddle through the so called life, well, that too, varies majorly so.

Getting old, means you might want to vary your diet and perhaps start liking certain things you did not before, just like life, right?

Getting even older means, you will stat to love the bitter taste of coffee without any qualms, black no sugar, no cream and definitely no milk, no questions asked, except for the one always hanging in the air when the liquid from the cup starts to disappear — one more, please!

It is totally reminiscent of life in this writers mind, as the more stale it gets as it sticks to the bottom of the pot, having been left for far too long, on the very warming plate, and so the more bitter the stuff tastes… and then what happens?

Well, the more you go back to get, well, even more of the same old shit!

And you totally see it now don’t you, the premise of this very tale, right?

As Coffee, Life, there really is no difference!

Coffee and and a break

“There is nothing like a break for coffee or a coffee for a break” Gun Roswell

Coffee and and a break

The cup might be small or totally large, but that is not the thing in charge, only the dark, strong liquid, which will fill it to its hilt and then, only waiting for the one whom it will drink.

And so, without any further thoughts, the breaks scarce and not lasting long, the coffee lover started on their cup, enjoying each and every single drop, until it was time to stop, return to the grind, but then again, there was no more drops in the cup to be found.

A Small Cup of Coffee?

“Ain’t nuttin wrong with a cup of coffee, definitely not nuh-ub! But, if you dare to pour me a small one, then shame on you. If I drink it willingly, guess shame on me?” Gun Roswell

A Small Cup of Coffee?

Size really does matter, when it comes to coffee, because you know, nobody just wants one cup of the stuff, especially if it is a small one, espresso or not.

So, when being a good host for a guest, friend or foe, always be prepared to offer them the more, meaning at coffee time, which is pretty much any time, always always always, bring out the big guns, i.e large cups filled with coffee!

Thank you very much!

Reflections in a Coffee Cup

“A finger, a hand, a face, an attitude, a day, a year, a whole life even, reflected from a single cup of coffee“ Gun Roswell

Reflections in a Coffee Cup

The cup of coffee poured, sitting in front of the drinker

As this one was, according to some, a real thinker

Life, death, life, coffee, things that nature, always on their mind

Pondering all the possible things, without trying to be unkind

As this way of living, was rather an antisocial one

But then again, without great thinkers, lots of things would remain undone

And so, trying to forgive the one deep in thought

While sipping from their very coffee cup

As plenty of new ideas, inventions and such

Were thought of, while simply taking the time off

And letting the mind fill with ideas of plenty

And the coffee would then take care of the need of the belly

Simple as that, was this one of a kind magical drink

As really, the human race needed it for those who would dare to, think

One more, for the road, please

“The coffee cup spilleth over, always” Gun Roswell

One more, for the road, please

The time for coffee, is right now,

Just and enough before a total frown

The elixir giving the strength to carry on

To face all those obstacles thrown

On the path when the day starts

When all and everything smarts

But, when the maker of the liquid starts

The smallest hint of a smile

Emerges

And after that, the cloak of invincibility appears

And so without any fear

With the coffee mug in hand

There is nothing and no one this one

Cannot to against stand!

Double strong, double size cup

Double strong, double size, double the surprise, the taste always as good as the previous time. Coffee.” Gun Roswell

Double strong, double size cup

Coffee server in a cup, preferably, double in size, but not just that, but double strength, nothing else, because why? This is coffee, no need for any add ons.

Well, maybe some foam, the milky kind, as long as there is no lactose nor too much of the sugary type, then that would be fine, but remember to serve it in a tall glass, the whole setup chilled, even if it won’t last.

Because coffee, no matter the size, shape or strength, is the very best.
