Scenic Scenes from Dawn till Dusk and all around

“The traveller never gets sick of looking at the vistas of foreign lands, I definitely don’t and looking back at all the pictures taken, I revisit all those places“ Gun Roswell

The days of sunny and warm
Spent around the old ruins just after dawn
Much to see and plenty to do
Especially as the day is getting hotter after noon

But for the enthusiastic traveller
There is really nothing to complain rather
Enjoying the new vistas and the history
Of this place with plenty of stories

And, if you are planning to stay awake
Until the late of the event filled day
Make sure to make your way to the beach
Or basically any open area seat

As the spectacle of the evening
Is at that time about to begin
The sun setting over the open waters
There is really nothing to compare!

So keep on travelling, to strange new places
If only in your mind or in a virtual space
There is nothing more eye opening
When out of your comfort zone staying

Looking down

Espoo, Finland

“Something about being on the top, simply makes one feel so, well, superior? At least for a moment there, before the elevator takes you way back down, to the ground level, where you belong“ Gun Roswell

Looking down

The views always spectacular, when high up, close to the very skies

That is unless you just might suffer, from vertigo, or some kind of go, wanting to fly, way back down, so better stay away, even if it causes a frown

But if you are simply there for the views, you won’t be disappointed

As long as you follow the rules and stay behind the supportive railing

If there is any there of course, usually though, there is something supportive there

As this is not some space opera where those railings always disappear

Snapping them pix just to prove, you were actually invited there

Up into the very special stratosphere, well at least, the twentieth floor

Of a tall building with many a restaurants and so so many stores

And having been there, even for a moment, the truth is, it was nothing reminiscent of a bore

But back down, all of us visitors must go, at least I have the lovely picture on my phone!

Peeking into a paradise, of sorts

“When you finally get to glimpse to the paradise you have so long dreamed of, well, it might not be exactly what you thought it would be, or maybe, it is?” Gun Roswell

Peeking into a paradise, of sorts

The curtain slowly rising from the spot I was doing my spying from, into the one place I was promised to have a glimpse of, the very specific place someone else might call, a paradise, eden, or any other kind of endearing name. But whatever you might call it, it is the very one you may want, your eternity to spend in. And once you find it, you may never want to leave the place, even if you were promised only to have a quick glance, a peek of what might be waiting for you, once the journey you are now on, is completed.

So, why not enter that place right now you may ask? Well, as we all know, nothing is meant to last, not the path we are on and maybe not even the end goal. So, for now, maybe it is enough, to get that one small glimpse into the future which might be there waiting, before you can go back to the daily life you are living until it is time to get inside that promised paradise. So, do put on that smile, as even if it takes a while, you still have a place in the so called paradise you seek.

Up and down the steep hill

“The scenic route, taken up and then down, with so much of a frown as it was so damned hot!” Gun Roswell

Up and down the steep hill

The only way up, to really see what was on the very top, was to climb the steep and dangerous and totally narrow path, with the crowds so packed, that you could not take a break without loosing your step. But what the heck, it was a holiday trek after all, and it was time to see it all. The history, or rather rate old rocks, once a magnificent fort, but now only a sad sack of stones, but hey, I was willing to climb with these old bones, even if it killed me in the process.

So climbing, climbing, never stopping, sweating, gasping for air, this was hardly fair. It was supposed to be a fun holiday and not a time to slave. Still, I had made the decision, to make my way up there, almost touching the stratosphere, as the mountain was certainly that high, and I was not stating this with an easy smile, rather a grind of my teeth. But there was no defeat, only on choice, to make it up there or die trying, well, guess not, but still, it was hard.

That was until I reached the bloody top and then, I stopped, for a breather, a drink, a snap of the views I think. And then, there was only one more thing remaining for me to do, and that was to climb back down again! And hey, that was another feat notch onto my proverbial belt! As I stared on my way, the bad blood and hatred felt, on my skin as those still on their way up there, were silently cursing all their way.

Elvis has left the Konebuilding”

This week’s favourite photo has to be the one of the Christmas ornament, or plastic Elvis, as I like to call it. The photograph was taken from one of the decorations of our office Christmas tree.

Favourite Photo Friday , 2015-11-27

For this week’s Favourite Photo of the week, I have chosen not one, but two from my Wednesday’s World Wide Wednesday series, which presented the city of Porvoo in colour in two parts.

Depicted is the beautiful river “Porvoonjoki” and the slow relaxed living during summer time in the old town of Porvoo, Finland.
