By the Shores of the Sea

“The sea beckons for the stray traveller to get on the waves, in a boat or then, swimming perhaps close to the shore” Gun Roswell

I still remember
That one September
The bluest of skies
And it was warmer than July
The water clear and inviting
The air soft and delighting
Not a worry in sight
Everything quite right
In the distance
For an instance
A boat or two
Disappearing from the view
Most tourists already gone
Leaving us alone
Enjoying in peace
With a short lease
The last rays of summer

Why not build a summer cottage by the seashore

The tiny wooden made shack, by the seashore stands, sideways slacked
It’s really not much to look at, just a few odd planks together stacked
But for the one that built it, this little house, might just be, the perfect fit
A summer’s cottage, or a simple, almost a tent type thing, on the beach sits

Alas, the rough and unforgiving autumn winds soon will fall
Upon each and every single plane, even up, to this remote shore
If the tiny summer cottage will the beating of weather’s wrath survive
Then come next spring, the dweller will have a place to return just fine

But, until that time, the sun will still shine
The clear blue waters and even the skies
Will be totally able to provide
The needed light and warmth to get by
Here in the tiny beach house, oh so divine

Sailing along the shore

“Spot the boat on the side of the road” Gun Roswell

Sailing along the shore

Just to be on the safest of sides, on this, blue ocean oh so wide
And as is the pride in addition to the set of skills still lacking quite
The best bet for today’s magnificent ride, was not to totally hide
Rather to stay securely and solemnly on the long, long coastline

So, taking this adventure with just a slight hint of enthusiasm in the air
At least before getting the hang of all this sailing stuff without despair
As it really is a tough job, controlling all of this fine burnt small size boat
So not to make too much of a hassle of it al and then left on the strand to croak

But today, is the first trial of running a ship of my own, being the captain bold
And following the given rules and regulations, and doing the things as told
Because since day one after seeing this fine vessel ready and able, I was sold
And so becoming the proud owner and the skipper, well, guess it was foretold

So, setting sail, across the seashores, will be today’s finest chore
And that despite the short distance will still not be any kind of bore

Village by the seashore

“Settled into a small seaside village, for the weekend at least, what could be more fun than that Gun Roswell

Village by the seashore

The quite tiny, yet very lively village
By the calm blues and sandy seashore exists
The every day life to some might seem dull
But the dwellers there, would that argument null
Because the life even without luxury, is very full

The fishing, the shopkeeping and even just being
Is the way or them, and starts early every single morning
Always a happy smile and a quick hello
To their neighbours but also complete strangers
Get the same treatment, without a seconded thought

And, when an errand tourist there might venture
On a weekend getaway from the daily grind, they might find
That no connection there exists of the internet kind
And soon enough, even after first huff, that will be really fine
Because visiting this settlement, turns out to quite the adventure

Working by the seashore

“It’s just another regular working day, here, by the cold, seashore” Gun Roswell

Working by the seashore

When the day breaks in the early morning
And the sunshine breaks with a big yawning
The working day is about to start
So, please, try to play it very smart

The waters seem so very cold
And the weather is even getting more bold
The sun hiding behind all them clouds
And the wind is howling ever more loud

The boats beneath us soon are shaking
As the unexpected storm from the seas is breaking
Being alright at this point is only faking
As the faces turn greener and the bodies quaking

But the working day is far from over
The attitudes like the weather getting bolder
Rolling up the sleeves
To all this heavy-duty work to complete

Minds off the shaking surface
Since this is no time for hurling
And when the attitudes are corrected
Sooner than later, the work is completed

Homeward bound the working crew now is
Even the boss said she was pleased
Back to the comfort of home they head
Because tomorrow another working day awaits

Seashore, Paphos, Cyprus

Paphos is a city on the southwest coast of Cyprus, the Mediterranean island. Inhabited since Neolithic times, Paphos has several sites relating to the cult of the goddess Aphrodite, whose mythical birthplace was at Old Paphos (Kouklia). New Paphos is the modern city that incorporates the harbor. It’s also home to Paphos Archaeological Park, encompassing ancient ruins of tombs, fortresses, theaters and villas.

Nightfall, City Lights

The soft coloured city lights
Reflecting on the water
In the darkened nights
Of the month of October

Standing on the pier
No one else is near
Reflecting the day’s events
Before I finally relent

And start my journey home

Happy Place, Seashore (Part Two)

Happiness
Is a little stretch of emptiness
Of seashore that is

Sitting on the rocks
Watching the waves
Feeling the misbehave
Tossing shoes and socks
Walking to the waterline
Reminders of cloud nine
Sand between the toes
Silently uttered woes
Of never leaving…
…Paradise
