'Wow, I'm really great-looking.'...
I think I'm the greatest, anyway"
Iggy Pop

I am the prettiest of them all
At least after too much alcohol
Trying to stand here very tall
Realizing I really need a total overhaul

Selfies in the Mirror for The Daily Post

Admiring our own reflection
From each and every direction
Ducky lips, eyes transfixed
Oh what ages we live in
It’s really hard not to give in
To the prettiest face staring

Selfies in the Mirror for The Daily Post

Around and around we all flock
Each other’s views trying to block
Stabbing each other’s backs
Until the mirror almost cracked

Mirror Mirror on the wall
Who really is the prettiest
On the selfie-sticks of them all:
Me, you, or the neighbour’s dog?

Odds and Ends

Objet d’art
Or something smart
On the odds and ends
Our time we spend
Without our creature comforts
We might be up the rafters

“I cannot sing, dance, act or write, but it never stopped me from doing any of those things” Gun Roswell

Who the Hell is Gun?

She thinks she is the Gun with the fastest bullets
She sure loves her creature comforts
Her chair, her Trek, her Mac and coffee
Maybe even some added toffee

my-spot  food

Home sweet home
Her true heart’s motto
Write more and still some more
Her work etchic on the dot-o

home sweet home 1  home sweet home 2

A holiday spent in a warmer climate
Cheeks will turn the colour of tomatoes
Fuel it will for a year’s worth
Surely going onwards strong with mirth

gun-5  food-coffee

Even of her car she wrote
A little tale, oh what a poet!
Drag Queens, comedy, science fiction
Between them not always a clear distinction

creature comforts  gun-7

Her home filled with objet d’arts
A collection long ago did start
Oh and did I mention the many a shoes?
Maybe even a witch’s brew?

Her leg was operated a while ago
Now fully mended and on the go
High heels come a clacking
When someone at the door is knocking

gun 2  gun-3

Strong and independent is her mindset
But do not that let
Fool you into thinking
She is not as soft as a kitten

When it comes to her and hers
You can softly hear her purr
When the working day is done
Let the slumber surely come

The days are getting shorter
Reflections on the water
The last of the reminders
Of the times much kinder

The games of summer played
The tanned skin to rest laid
Tall shadows now displayed
Soon enough will fade

Because,
When in October
The cold shoulder
Of winter
Soon will reenter

“Childhood means simplicity. Look at the world with the child’s eye – it is very beautiful” Kailash Satyarthi

Throwback Thursday: Gun Roswell

The year was nineteen sixty eight
Life still at stage wait
I must have been no more
Than three years of age

Little Red Riding Hood
Yes, I knew I could
In the borrowed red elf’s hat
Cutest thing you ever saw
Prettiest princess of them all
How could I ever top that!

Now, forty seven years later
Oh life, you’re such a traitor!
I still love red of course
Now I wear it with horns
In the mighty stiletto heels
Life is as good as it feels
