Manic Monday

“It’s just another Manic Monday” The Bangles

Manic Monday?

Is this another Manic Monday?
Or just another January Fun-day?

It’s six o’clock already, but I need to drive steady. The roads are iced and if I drive too fast, I will get sliced. As usual, after the weekend, Monday follows and so does the mania and the panic. Rushing here and rushing there. A never ending story of this writer’s life. Or does it apply to everyone?

Just when I thought it was safe to say, it’s going to be a peaceful day, all hell breaks loose. So who cooked the goose this time? All was fine, for a moment at least, but someone unleashed the beast. And yet again, another fire to fight! Ah this poor girl’s plight.

Several hours later, when once again, I have turned into a hater, of Mondays, the sun has come out to play! I’m secretely hoping it is here to stay! I rush out, leaving my gloves and coat behind. Never mind! The air is much warmer now. After all, only minus degrees of two, so what have I got to loose!

Reaching the seashore, the sunrise to score. Enjoying a few seconds, because the sun beckoned and then… it hits me. The coldest of winds, blowing in my face. Oh how I really hate… Winter!

Frozen One

“Frozen in time” Gun Roswell

Frozen One

Solid like a rock, frozen from bottom to top
Icy, cannot slice it, no matter which way you dice it
Petrified for ever, a work of art quite clever
Made in Winter, by Mother Nature, a new creature, of its kind

Decorating the snowy white field
With its transparent cold shield
Nothing can defeat it, beat it
It will remain there until the very end…
… after the rest of us are already spent

Winter Blues two

“Oh Winter, you came again!” Gun Roswell

Winter Blues

Forest silent for a moment, when the snow had descended
Winter season had begun, announcing all the activities as fun
Skiing, skating, sleighing, there is really no denying
Winter can be a lot of fun, even if there is hardly any sun

For a moment the world seems a little smaller
As the trees grow taller, and the forest seems a lot cooler
But dressing up in warm clothing, watching life of white unfolding
Keeping up the lights, in the long nights, future seems also bright

Winter Blues one

“Oh Winter, you came again!” Gun Roswell

Winter Blues

Blue descended, on the small lake, undefended
As the sun was setting for the final time of the season
Leaving only the one artificial light, to act as a solemn beacon
In the total darkness, leaving everything otherwise defenseless

Unless, staying inside the guarded perimeter
Patrolled by the vigilant elves, going through each centimeter
Humans and animals a like, huddled together, for the next short while
Until such time, the Spring will arrive, and bring forth the sun’s shine

Winter Sun

“A rare moment surely, at this season” Gun Roswell

“A rare moment surely, at this season” Gun Roswell

Winter Sun

Hanging low,
Emanating a soft glow
The neutron star,
Which gives us light even this far
Nature’s special effect,
When you did not expect
The Winter’s sun,
Before the day is done

But not for too long,
Not even time for a song,
It was once again gone
Setting into the horizon,
Not tomorrow arising,
Not even once smiling
It will be set,
Until the final bet
Of a long Winter’s day
And only then,
It’s warmth will it spread
Here and there
And all will be fair
Once more,
Yes we did score!

“Black and white is abstract; color is not. Looking at a black and white photograph, you are already looking at a strange world” Joel Sternfeld

Day 3

Frost bitten branches and leaves
Above a small dwelling still heave
The wind cold and freezing
Breathing in the throat keeps on wheezing
“This weather, certainly takes your breath away”
Just be careful not too long to stay
Warm mittens and a thick coat
And certainly a woolen scarf for that throat

Day 2

Winter continues with all its muster
Snow pouring down, faster and faster
The forest with its trees covered in light
Powdery crystals in the colour of white
A passageway in front quite clear
Do not hesitate or fear
Take a step into the wonder and delight
And soon you have something about to write

Day 1

Snow covering, all of the land
Just like designed and planned
The Winter’s hand
Lays heavily on each strand
Not one inch de-clutched
Not one place untouched
Nature has made its mark
With a white noiseless bark

Snowy Seat on a Sunday

It may be cold outside
With lots of frosted snow
But as the sun comes from its hide
You need to take it slow
Take a seat for a while
Even if it’s not your style
And simply enjoy with a smile…

But, thank goodness: It’s almost summer now!

Just An Other Saturday?

“The sky may fall on our heads tomorrow”

Just An Other Saturday?

Early morning
Dark skies
The wind howling
The rain pours

Just an other Saturday morning
In a month of Winter

More darkness to follow
Life empty and hollow
Through the window
The outside world
Only but a blur

But,
Just look out!
Something happens
A single white flake
Then an other
Could it be…
Snowing?

Lightness surrounding
From the skies to the ground
Happy thoughts, clear mind
Nothing more need I find

On just an other Saturday
