Staycation – Summer in Suburbia

“Staying home for a vacation? What a novelty?!?” Gum Roswell

Summer days in suburbia
Might end up in utter hysteria
With neighbours, staring at you
Simply, because there is nothing to do

The Red Sky in the Evening

“The sun is setting, the skies looking like a painting, with so much of the colour of red used, well, it’s gorgeous so who am I to complain?” Gun Roswell

“The sky is on fire, the sky is on fire!”

The peasant from the ancient times shouted
As the red clouds into the skies sprouted
Running as fast as he could
Before the skies on him fall would

Simply out of fear
Not knowing of the beauty so near
Shivering in his cellar
Like an old yeller

Some hundreds years later
Not a sunset hater
Eagerly awaiting
A sunset most breathtaking

A day in May in Suburbia

“When the sun is shining, the weather warm, there is no use in delaying, the spring cleaning chores!” Gun Roswell

Something about the sun shining through the dirty glass left behind the winter’s snowy mass
Which beckons the house holder to pick up a bucket of water and a hopefully clean rag
The cleaning of the home, certainly a time honoured tradition

Alas sometimes, all of us, could do with a little less fuss rather than working oneself to exhaustion
With all them chores the spring brings with it
To set the house up ready and waiting for the visit
Of the shiniest of sunny rays, which keep on bouncing on each and every surface

Then there is the yard or balcony or if you are unlucky, both
The cleaning, the organising, the fertilising, the sowing of seeds
Hoping at least a few flowery things to be appearing before the end of summer
But if they won’t well, there is always the weed kinds with pretty colours
So don’t be too harsh and go and rip of that yellow and purple looking grass
At least something is growing on that neglected and badly kept yard!

And so there is the next topic, the one with the complete overhaul of the garden
The dirt, the rocks, the whatever else is needed to get the work moving
All kinds of curious tools, shovels and forks and such simply to get stuff growing?
Well, do it once and then it’s all done right?
Wrong! It’s a never ending cycle!

So do be, forewarned!
It’s a trap, a total scam!
For all those would be gardeners:
Leave well enough alone, nature, will take it’s own course after all!

Winter in Black and White

1

“Oh the snow! It just keeps on pouring, doesn’t it!” Gun Roswell

Winter in Black and White

No sense in wasting colour
It won’t get any better or duller
The nature all in monochrome
Like after a white paint bomb

Frozen in time and space

“The snow always falls when you are not looking, at least it seems that way, especially when you standing there waiting with a shovel!” Gun Roswell

Frozen in time and space

The snow, does not wait for anyone, rather falls where it may, especially when the weather is too cold for rain or sleet so, without the heat, all of it, landing wherever it may, will freeze, thus laying a protective cover, all over the place. And if you are lucky enough to get a sunny day in your zone, then those frozen particles of snow, will most certainly get to shine and glow in the warm but cold sun shine all day, or rather short day long up in the North.

So, whether you are a fan of the winter, the cold and harsh environment, where all is frozen and covered with snow, then this season will most likely be treating you with all kinds of nice. But if you are a total hater of the cold and cannot stand to even look outside, well, maybe just take one small peak, because no matter hater of lover, this snowy treat of a cover, where the whole place looks like it is frozen in time, will certainly give you a small smile.

The Winter and the Sunset

“The sunsets are very early in the afternoon, if you are lucky enough to catch one at all” Gun Roswell

The Winter and the Sunset

It seemed only a few hours ago, that the sun had started rising, in the low horizon, and then it was already almost gone. But luckily I was able the catch the last rays glowing in reds as the setting of the sun was a few hours only after the lunch break in the afternoon, thinking that’s was way too soon as I had hardly caught a glimpse of it all day, making the mood much like dismay, even if the lighter colours on the outside because of the snow were all still shining bright. But the sun is something to be adored no matter how many times it feels like a chore and talking about it sometimes like a bore, the same old story of the setting sun, the images captured pretty much all done. But I say it is not, and keep on the lookout for the bright globe of fire, whenever it emerges from its slumber, lighting up our dull grey days, and keep on snapping those pictures high and low, whenever the rise or set is on the flow, and a few words here and there in honour of the star so mighty, as without it there really is no surviving.

The views ever changing

“The winter weather never ceases to amaze the onlooker, the changes happening on an almost daily bases, from warm to cold and snow to sleet, and this only during one week” Gun Roswell

The views ever changing

The window view is never boring, the scenery always and forever changing, while every day bringing something new to see, the many faces of winter some say is way too fleeing a season, even if it seems to be lasting forever at least from the point of view of the viewer, having seen nothing but the varied stages of sleet, snow, ice and the same all over again for several months on end. But the scene set before the large frame of the glass, seems to still have something new to show every day passing, whether the sprinkles of ice frozen there until the plus degrees causes them so melt and instead, the trickles of water form patterns changing for each passing moment. So, guess there can be no complaints of why and how long the winter here will stay, at least not to those enjoying watching the views from the warm and comfortable inside, even if there is a snowy winter mess out side waiting to be explored, that is if you dare to take the trip out there, maybe find out even more of the changes.

The raindrops the window

“Rain, rain and some more rain, guess it is really fine in the end” Gun Roswell

The raindrops the window

The rain leaves it’s calling card on the windows, marking the surface but luckily not permanent but for at least a moment the markers will stay there, for the simple purpose of admiration with the good kind of sensations there to be found.

And so, observing those tiny droplets getting stuck on the tough glass, forming all kinds of patterns, some of them just splatters really, but still, they have a way in capturing the attention just the same, and as long as they remain, they will the onlooker entertain.

    The red gets in control
