Sunday in the shade

“Time spent in the shade, is never wasted, so why hesitate?” Gun Roswell

Sunday in the shade

Running away, from the warming sun?
Well, that must have been, some kind of a pun
Since the very long awaited light up there
Was finally out and about in the stratosphere
So why would anyone in their right mind
Want to stay inside a building, or the shade?

Before you get all up and at it and up me chew
First and foremost, just hear my plead why don’t you
Because I have so many legit explanations (excuses)
To point out why I am not out there rather refusing
Any kind of direct sunlight upon my fairest of skins
And hiding inside, the shade if you will

Well, here is one good reason at least
For you see, the sun in my mind is a beast
Which reflects all that shiny white light
And honestly gives me the shivers and fright
As I am more of a nigh person myself
At least that is what I keep telling everyone else

The shadow is a much cooler place
And when one there for a long, long time stays
The mere thought of a sun and fun filled venue
Will rise all kinds of feelings I tell you
I am not made for the light of the sun
Even if that sounds like I am no fun

And to be honest, I prefer staying inside my shell
Being boring as hell, even if not everyone can tell
I also prefer the shade and the slight darkness
At least, the mid greys of the lightness
Rather than exposing myself in the direct light
Whether it be the sun or just a simple electrical fright

I maybe or may not be one of them kind
Whom the constant spotlight is never fine
But staying inside the shade is not all that bad
So don’t you feel sorry for me or be sad
Just because I am different than the rest
I assure you, I am fine and won’t be a pest!

Under the sun, but, under the parasol

“There is just something so fun, laying, under the bright sun, but only, if I have my parasol, where I lay down without being too dull!” Gun Roswell

Under the sun, but, under the parasol

The sun is shining, so brightly, against the blue of the sky
Nothing or no other experience in life, makes me really, smile
As does this meteorological phenomena do, to little ol’ moi
When I have made the trek to the beach, for the day encore en foi
But this is not just about throwing some French around
But rather,  to enjoy a day, resting, even if lying, on the ground
A day at the beach, in theory at least, is a plan totally sound
But if the heat gets a tad too much to resist, and groaning out loud
Becomes the permanently made, teeth grinding non-vowels
Then it is that time, when the parasol comes to play
Quickly setting up the plastic colourful monstrosity to full display
Never mind the outlook, it’s fine because I myself won’t look
At the contraption, now above my very large head, slightly shook
Because, I will be happy on this one day of summer no matter what
Even with all them flies and other types, I away have to swat
This one single day I have earned with much work and sweat
So I will be damned if the heat or what ever other problem might me let
Feel less of fun, or any other type of good feeling
As I lay here, watching the day, pass me by, leading
Towards the hopefully calm and setting sun for the evening
When I will leave this place, with a smile on my face

Until next year, when I get one day off and to the beach, once again trot
With my parasol naturally, so I can enjoy, the sun, fully!

Basking in the Sun

“Even for me life had its gleams of sunshine” Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

Basking in the Sun

The working day has begun
Must admit it, just no fun
Looking out the window
Seeing cold weather and snow

Just for a moment
My mind wanders
Back to holidays
Back to the time
When I was
Basking in the sun

basking-2

Spring kind of weather, it really is!

“In the Spring,
I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside of 24 hours”
Mark Twain

Spring kind of weather, it really is!

The grass, looking oh so green
It is finally that time, the time of spring
All them colourful birds, do so loudly sing…

But, then,
Out of the total and unexpected blue
Bigger than life, some of them football size
(honestly!)
Totally white and really cold snowballs
From the now greyed out open skies, start to fall

WTF?

Well, you expected a change in the weather
And, this, this is certainly spring kind of weather!

Winter Shadows

“The spring sun, came out for some fun and brought up, tall shadows” Gun Roswell

Winter Shadows

As the spring time approaches
It’s time to dim down the torches
The sun getting so high
Up in the bright blue sky
It is so unusual and unexpected
Almost as if everyone somehow neglected
Is the brightness and lightness of it all
Because ever since the time of fall
Darkness was all these creatures would know
But now, as the warmth and sunshine descends
Over the land, minds and souls start to reflect
All those happy thoughts one could do
When the nature and mankind alike
Start their journey out of the blue
Stepping into the now blinding light
Shedding their winter gear just out of spite
For, spring, followed by summer
Can never be, a total down letting bummer

Sun bed in the midst of rush

“What an odd place for a sun bed” Gun Roswell

Sun bed in the midst of rush

A seat, of summer
Right smack in the middle
Of a very rushed place

It looks so great
Even, a little inviting
In the sun now shining

I stop and wonder then
Should I some rime spend
To take a break and just sit

Yes, I just did

Sea, sunshine in summer

“Sea, sun and summer, nothing more do I need” Gun Roswell

Sea, sunshine in summer

Even on the cloudiest of days
I will not for long in a dismayed state stay
As I step outside into the calming beach
I am greeted by a cooling breeze
Nothing is more invigorating than the sea
Cool blues as far as my eyes can see
Even if I choose to just hang around
Take my place on the rocky ground
Or if I am feeling daring and adventurous
I can set sail to the open waves
In my small dingy of a boat with sails
I feel great, alive and most of all
I am spending the best of a summers time, at the seashore
And soon enough, even the sun cones out
Making this day too, perfect all around

Seats on the sunny side

“Take a load of, sit down, enjoy, the sun” Gun Roswell

Seats on the sunny side

When the sun shines
Shines, so totally fine
Fine, is the whole wide world
World, open, out going, bright
Bright, as the sun shining
Shining, high up in the clear blue skies
Skies, so cool and blue
Blue, the great hue in contrast

Contrast to the colour filled ground
Ground, on to which a few seats
Seats, to sit on for rest
Rest, to enjoy the clear blue skies and sun
Sun, which under it is time to rest
Rest on the seats set
Set, under the sunny side of the world
World, which enjoys the season
Season of summer
Summer, when it’s time to relax
Relax, on these seats
Seats, on the sunny side of life

“A warm day with sunshine” Gun Roswell

Sunshine

Sun, warm on my skin
Left the coat inside, going for a
Ride, on this cool day

On the Sunny Side of the Bench

On the sunny side of the bench
No option of getting drenched
Enjoying the long, warming rays
In these unworried and lazy days

Before the days are done
Soaking in the healing sun
With closed eyes this moment
Like an image in my mind burnt
