Travel Thursday in Kos Island: Bikes, Carts, Mopeds and Scooter-mobiles

“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware”

Moped

“When I turn ninety,
I will drive a moped”
At twenty I playfully joked
But little did I know then
And, that you should never say when,
And, that by the age of fifty
A scooter painted pink
Would come in nifty!

Scooter

“Faster, harder, scooter!”

No, this is not a blooper
And trying not to be a party pooper
But,
This is a vehicle, not a German band
I state, as I here stand

Bike (2)

A ladylike bike
With a basket in front
Will lead you
To a treasure hunt

The ride you’ll enjoy
Even, shouting ahoy
While riding around
Plenty of goodies are found

Soon enough
It’s getting tough
Your basket is full
Up the hill
The bike you pull

Sweaty and thirsty
The bike you’re cursing
But when at the top
You see another shop

Quickly mounting the bike
Because you see what you like
With cool breeze in your hair
You thank to gods of this great fare

Bike

Ride, ride, ride your bike
Where ever you feel and like
Or at least
With this delivery beast
As the delivery clerk
You’ll do the work
And much later
A joyride awaits ya’

But,
If your bike
Will go on a strike
Then what can I say:
You are in for a hike!

Velo-Bike

When you feel like
Your feet are on a strike
Just hop on a Velo-Bike
Motorized fun
Under the sun
No, this is not a pun
Just ride, ride, ride
Your Velo-Bike

Golf Cart

To fool the neighbours
And all other strangers
You hired a cart
Which was quite smart
Added a bag of clubs
Actually some look alike stubs
Hopped inside the vehicle
While the other looked unbelievable
Maybe even a little jealous
Because of this helluva
Trick you made up

As the colourful leaves
In the autumn wind heave…

Just hold your horses,
Still wear those short shorts
And sooner, than you believe
It will actually be Christmas Eve
Proper songs can be sung
And ornaments on branches hung

“Oh maple tree, oh maple tree,
Thy leaves are really changing…”

Sorry, wrong season, wrong song:
Better keep the singa-longs
In the time frame they belong 😉

Local Book Mobile for the Daily Post

“My perfect morning is spent drinking coffee,
eating porridge and reading the paper at a local café”

Local Book Mobile for the Daily Post

book-mobile-1

When you hear the sound of the wheels
As they slightly screech and squeal
A vehicle driving down the small road
All the kids are quickly up on their toes
Trying to get a glimpse of the nearing
Soon all their faces lit up and leering

The familiar sound of the tooting horn
Breaking the silence of the early morn’
The biggest of all the coaches
As the local book mobile approaches
Soon enough the children come a running
And started has the pushing and shoving

book-mobile-2

A little while later
Only the sound of paper
Rustling, as the books have found
A solid ground
In the hands of the readers
Truly, the books are mind feeders

“Welcome, to the dark side
We can provide fun too
But these spots far and few
Reserved only for two…”
