“Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance” Carl Sandburg
Leaves of October
The leaves of colour
Soon but shadows
Slowly fading away
In the October rain
Autumn leaves
Falling down
From the trees
On to the ground
The winds are soon
But a silent whisper
As the leaves bloom
Out of existence

Shadow Play in October Part Two
The October sun’s shadows
Casting tall and narrow
The darkened figures
Painting abstract pictures
Onto every surface
Carefully you listen
But the only sound
Is the soft whistle
Of the Autumn leaves
Landing on the ground

Shadow Play in October Part One
The sun in zenith
Standing beneath it
My shadow casting tall
Despite feeling small
The shadows at play
On this October day
Wish I could stay
A while longer

What would the world be
Without a cat, elephant or a bee
As far as the eye can see
Birds sitting in the trees
Join in and celebrate
All creatures great and small
They have given us much more
Than anyone can elaborate

Sunny Days in October Part One
Rain, rain, rain
And some more rain
But, wait… what?
Today, no rain?
Surprisingly sunny
To the point of funny
The air soft and warm
I could have sworn
It was late summer
But oh bummer
I wasn’t grinning
Because,
It was the beginning
Of October

Happy Caturday 2015-10-03
I still remember
That day in September
When a furry bundle of joy
Appeared at my door
And with a loud roar
Shouted: Ahoy!
Over thirty years ago
With four more in tow
With fullest of force
Changing the course
Of my entire life
Without much strife

SL WEEK 13: Four Wheel Drives
Four wheel drives
Of a different kind
Manual propulsion
With a little compulsion
Slowly getting nowhere
And then again, everywhere
Usage from ages zero
To the top one hundred
You can be a hero
Or a little weirdo
As long as you keep pedalling
The flow of adrenaline
Will keep you moving
Your condition improving
Hear the crowds cheering
As you are nearing
The finish line
