“Even in the darkness of night, there is plenty of artificial light, the signs lit, to the hilt, lighting the path of the nightly wonderer” Gun Roswell
Night Signs
Don’t worry about not seeing real good, when the darkness descends, because when you hit the streets, driving, walking, cycling, which ever format you may prefer, the lights of the signs, are there, all colours, shapes and sizes, keeping your path lit up without fail.
But even if they look all cool and making the rest assured, that the traveller will never fail on their path, stepping properly, during each pass, the skies will remain darkened, hardly ever light in there, as even the moon, may be hiding, not behind shroud of clouds, but rather, behind all the light reflected, back into the stratosphere.
And so, as a reminder, with all the artificial light scattered across the place, it will never replace, those wonders of seeing all the stars and planets, flashing their longs since dimmed light from a galaxy far far away, onto our paths.
“Always watch out, and be on the look out, heightened state of alert, as something will always fall down!” Gun Roswell
Achtung! Attention!
There is always a kind of danger out there Lurking, waiting, wherever you will dare to venture But there is no need to get discouraged Especially if you ate your plate of porridge In the early morning before heading to the office Because it will give you special kind of powers And the streets you can walk for many hours Without any kind of fear of being run over Or getting hit by some force never seen before So, when getting to the store, buying some milk Or maybe even coffee, the taste being totally silk Do not worry, rather walk with a jive step forward Even to the bus stop, move like you wanna rock As the danger is an illusion, a fear from the past And so, with that in mind, well, move along fine But hey, just in case, take with you an umbrella It might start to rain!
“Got some fresh fish and put them in a newspaper together with some greasy potatoes and what have you got? A meal to go!” Gun Roswell
Fish and chips, why not!
The trip to a near by land, the cities totally grand, all the museums, sights and other kinds of monuments around you would want to see them, while walking all around, alas even if it was all totally exiting and new and all worth the while, history unravelling right in front of the very eyes, one thing was certain. The constant presence of hunger, something which could not be satisfied with mere visionary and auditory pleasures. That of course was the hunger for sustenance.
So, what else was there to do, except to stop the expedition into the great unknown secrets of this land and then, to start browsing the offerings they had considering the gastronomical delights right there at every street corner, in the form of a tavern or a bar, as you really did not have to walk that far to find one establishment serving foods beyond this galaxy!
Sorting through the various menus while browsing the food courts windows, the multitude of what is available for the digestive system is something to be reckoned with. This big city with all its treasures, certainly has the food enthusiastic on their toes as there are so many things to choose from. Alas, then something interesting catches the weary travellers eye, taking it as a sign!
“Fish and chips for only just under ten!”
This must be a heavens sent and so, the choice is quite obvious, as a delicious dish for fish and chips soon will be ordered.
“The cow on the roof top stood and shouted out a loud “Moo y’all, come on and have a ball!”” Gun Roswell
Moo moo from the roof top!
The black and white large cow stood, up on the highest of roof tops as she just could It was a sign of something new on the rising, as the big bovine towards the horizon Was arising and then, without much of any kind of warning, opened her wide muzzle Because today was not the time for a cure nuzzle, rather a shout out to the group of cattle To come and join her in the heated battle, as today, they were finally getting their way Breaking free of all them shackles, the hooman peoples had forced them on for ever Soon enough the whole large herd of them appeared, their hoofs stomping the ground Giving their moo thanks to the special one on the roof top who had their freedom finally found And then, as per a unified stance, they gave their former keeper one more final glance Before stampeding off to the wide beyond, never to be seen or heard of except in tall tales Sung by the bards when it was safe, as this was one set of cows, nobody wanted to piss off
The sign said “Today is, a great day, for shopping” Now, did not hat make you pause for a stopping? Enter a store, for something special to score Maybe something to adore, something even more?
But did you not already have everything you needed or wanted? Is there a need for more of the fortunes to squander? It really makes this one person wonder Why you would need the more and not just the one thing
“No entry this way!” Much to my anger and dismay The sign of today Did not leave much of a choice to play
“No, never, not” These words twisting you into a tight knot The negativity filling the clear air Feeling the rise of all my skin hair
All of a sudden, the taste too musky, the air too misty Throat and stomach a twisting No clear air for breathing I am getting that all consuming sinking feeling
The signs of our times Sometimes, make you smile But more than often The missing of soften Leaves you hard and hollow And in utter and complete sorrow
Danger and entertainment Brought for your amazement Beware of yellow triangles Or watch, when cyclists entangle You might get this angle If you stand here waiting in patience
