The end of the holiday season

“The holidays have ended and the weather changed too, what are the odds!” Gun Roswell

The end of the holiday season

The ever consuming darkness on the outside
Needs to be shedding, with some much needed light
All the small decorative candles flickering bright
On the window shill, I once painted white

As I watch the weather in constant turmoil
I venture back to the days with seasonal joy
The ground always covered with so much snow
When going outside was fun with only a toboggan in tow

Alas those days may have passed
And the changing seasons are of the past
But somehow the silent smog outside the window
It is still comforting enough, even with a little wind blow

Monochrome on Monday

So, we meet again! My dearest, not! Monday! Why can’t you be gone already?” Gun Roswell

Monochrome on Monday

Monochromatic
It’s really electric
Even with only a few colours
You can smell the odours
Of the world of greys
Where all the light
And even shadows stay

Monochromatic
Is the world often seen
But even the plain shades
From white to all the greys
The nuances are there
You just need to stare
And up they pop, in your face

Monochromatic
I am getting quite ecstatic
The dance of light
And the bass of shadow
Never me fail
Just letting it all go
The bright colours
Do not bother me anymore

Bikes on the sidewalk

“There is nothing to riding a bike in the middle of the winter and in piles and piles of snow, right?” Gun Roswell

Bikes on the sidewalk

Bicycles of all sizes and kinds, discarded and thrown haphazardly on the side of the walkway, looking like an unorganised mess of sorts, but this is not really the sports, as each and every vehicle, has been lain down rather carefully, finding their place in the pile of metal and petals, to be used again on their way back home, just like getting to work in the early morning hours, no matter the hail or rain showers.

As riding a bike, no matter the weather and whether there is hail, snow or rain, it is all the same for these cyclists, whom are keen and able to thread, the worst of them all, weather wise and the horrid traffic of course. They are the unsung heroes of these days, the silent knights who are taking their two wheeled friends quite seriously, making sure they are taken care of.

So, before you snort and distorts, this glorious image of a biker hero or knight type, why don’t you yourself give it a try, ride your forgotten bike, no matter what down might be coming, the rain, the hail or the snow, and then only will you be able to frown, or perhaps, it will be a smile after all.

Bikes covered in snow

“Riding a bike in winter? Well naturally! There are winter tires invented and warm clothing intended to protect against the cold.”

Bikes covered in snow

The several bikes under the tree taking cover from the winter’s deep and tormenting lash of snow, but that is just what it looks like from far away, as these bikes are here to stay, and even totally slay the snows of the winter, never ever fearing the weather, as they have been permanently tethered to this land of cold by their very riders so bold.

So for now, riding along, no matter spring, summer, fall or winter, these bikes and their riders are fierce and do not mind a challenge, not even something bad or ominous foretold. As they take their two wheelers out there, in the open air, peddling gingerly away, as they are not the ones long in one place to stay. And so, no matter the heavy snow fall, the bikes and their bikers stand tall, against the weather gods.

Of course, the shovel is a necessary tool, when packing for the wintery cold, as digging out from the cover light sometimes, cannot be done by hand and well, that might be the only negative, or then it is the ice roads. Then again, spikes to the wheels and thinking of the snow pushing as a sport, the nothing can go wrong for these winter riders.

The road of winter

“The long road ahead, filled with snow no less!“ Gun Roswell

The road of winter

The winter season trip to visit, people you know, may take on a slow tone, as all the roads are now filled with freshly fallen snow. Of course they will be plowed at some point in time, but none too soon as the time to leave is now and turns out, that the roads about to be taken, are not in the list of the plow persons priority. So, the only we may of keeping going, is slowly and carefully, and of course, making sure, that the tires are slippery proofed, meaning that they are suited for any kind of winter weather as those are the only kind of tether, keeping you on the road itself and not rolling into the ditch. And don’t forget the shovel, you know, just in case there might be trouble. So, if you have these safety precautions considered and prepared for them, maybe even add some extra warm clothing and a pack of hot coco bottles to the mix, then you should be fixed and ready for the car kind of sleigh ride of the winter, as them roads are most likely real slippery, so sliding your way through, might just be a real option to make your trip to your friends to visit.

Blue Moment has descended into the Winter’s Forest

“The silence of the wintery forest is palpable, as the cold settles in and nothing really wants to move or sing“ Gun Roswell

Blue Moment has descended into the Winter’s Forest

The day was slowly but surely ending as the supposed sunshine was now setting, deep into the horizon, only to be rising again, the next day, perhaps as is the promise of this endless cycle of the dance of the sun and the moon and the stars. But in its way it left a deep blue colour without regrets of any kind, for the sun setting but with a kind of a smile to give all those who were believing in her return, even if sometimes there were doubts of that shiny ball of a light to never emerge again. But mostly there was a trust so inherit, that the sun would rise and that was enough to put a smile on the dwellers eyes, and so the calming of the blue moment, set deep in the forest on this winter’s day, was enough to convince them all, there would be another sunny day, if not tomorrow, or the day after, then at least, soon enough, as life was totally rough, in the cold darkness of the winter’s forest.

Forest views in snow vision

“The fresh snow had just fallen, early before the morning, filling the view with it all and leaving us in awe“ Gun Roswell

Forest views in snow vision

The fresh snow fallen from the heavens during the darkened night, only to be illuminated once the winter’s sun was up, none too early as it was only there for a few hours a day, just to assure it was still there. But what was revealed just there was the glittering and glimmering of the tree tops, as the sunny rays stopped there for a moment, while rising from their beds. The beauty of the scene reminiscent of an old school postcard someone had poured a hefty doze of glitter on there, simply to make it shine and today, nature had done exactly the same. Pouring the glittery essence to the snowy fields alongside the frozen waters in the creeks and even on the trees themselves, it was an absolutely breathtaking moment, frozen, literally, in time, and gazing at it for several long moments was giving the feel of everything being alright, at list for this moment, until something else happened and it was all changed. But until then, the viewer keeps on gawking at the pretty picture in front of them, and who can them blame?

The fresh footfalls in the snow

“The footfalls on the snowy ground made from soft steps possibly taken with woolly socks from the drawer recently found” Gun Roswell

The fresh footfalls in the snow

The slippery and wet sleet and the cold and icy snow a combination which each other in the winter will always follow, but neither type will matter as it is quite easy to leave a splatter of soft marks after having visited the outs, as the imprints for any passerby, who can immediately tell, someone else has walked this snowy trail of a path before. And perhaps with that specific knowledge, they too will get the confidence, of moving along inside those very steps and in the process making a good kind of a choice. Then again, they might simply be there left by someone who was in a hurry to catch the bus or someone trying to get to the store to get some stuff. But just in case these footfalls on the middle of the road, might just lead to somewhere very special and unique, then following them would be a great feat, as the adventure might just be on the beginning. So whatever you decide to do, with or without a shoe, simply follow the steps already marked on the ground and things you lost might just be found.

Criss cross on the snow

“On the frozen lake, not much is at stake, when criss crossing from bank to bank“ Gun Roswell

Criss cross on the snow

The winter morning sun, beckoned the dwellers outside for some winters fun, as the frozen lake close by provided a spot to run around in the otherwise crowded and small city side. The options plenty and the styles wary, as the people now put to enjoy the day of fun in the cold and crispy winter’s sun, as this kind of pleasure was as rare as finding hidden treasure. But perhaps this was even better, as the laughter of the dwellers enjoying their time out, was echoing through the streets quite loud. The playing on the wide field formerly a puddle filled with water, now snow and ice, was having everyone skating, skiing even playing the hockey of ice. Not too seriously though as everyone felt the playfulness of the situation and none was having a serious expression on their face because on this day, only fun and laughter were present. So, the essence of the lesson of this experience is, to go and get out there, no matter winter or not. Just take part in whatever fun filled games are played and try to be safe.
