“The night sky is getting a reddish hue, not the usual blues tonight!” Gun Roswell

H is for half of the moon over the roof tops
Every now and again it there pops
The circular motion never stops
Filling the night skies with bright light
Never again having the darkness to fright
The moon protecting even at half power
Letting us n the star dust shower
But even with all is might
It has to leave, before the early sunlight

The many faces of the moon

“The moon has many faces, even if it may just show the one to us“ Gun Roswell

The many faces of the moon

The shiniest of balls coming out at night

After winning against the sun its eternal fight

Hanging there on the spot regular as the work of the clock

The moon may be half or less its size, or full which is nice

The way printed onto sky, looking like a permanent smile

Depending naturally on the angle of the current viewer

But see, turn your head just a bit, and there it is!

The wide big grin of the moon – ding ding!

The moon noir

“The night or the day, no matter which way you decide to cypher it, the moon is out there, hanging above even if somewhat dimly lit“ Gun Roswell

The moon noir

The moon was out, hanging above in the clear blue sky, nothing there to spy, not really, but it could have as easily have been in the middle of the night, as the light, was so dim.

Either because of the timing, being that of summer, the day never ending, and so day or night, all the same, as the sun and moon together keeps on spinning.

Or then, it was the day of a ver dark and dreary autumn month, the shades blurring in together, to each other, the shadow, the light, all the grey shades of neither and then both, the monochrome, the noir, all of it one simple colour.

Whatever it is you see up there with your own bare eyes, is the truth, whether the sky is blue, or pitch black dark, the moon is always there, looking mighty smart.

The setting moon

“The moon is setting, making way for the rising sun, if you are letting it, but perhaps try time to stall” Gun Roswell

The setting moon

The moon will be gone, for a moment at least, while the sun rises, but hey, it’s all good, as the glowing dusty ball, will be right back there again when the night starts to fall, and then, once again, basking under the moonlit sky, with a heavy hearted sigh, is possible for the short while, the sun is gone, until the next morn’, when the same cycle will be starting all over again.

The Moon in the Morning Sky

“There is a moon still up there in the skies, even if it is time for the sun to rise” Gun Roswell

The Moon in the Morning Sky

There is always some kind of a surprise, for us mere mortals when you look up there into the great skies. Sometimes, a star arises where you least expected it to, or then, perhaps some visitor from a far can be seen in their small ship running fast. But, I guess the more mundane stuff, such as the moon and the sun, can too be a lot of fun. Especially, when rising up in the early morning hours, the sky becoming red of as you might expect, from the great star, the sun soon to rise. But what do those still sleepy eyes then spy? Well, the moon of course, which still keeps on hanging up there, in the stratosphere, even if it was time for it to take a long nap for the day as the shiny ball of light was on their way to slay the day. Still, the two were up there both sharing the same stage, and it did not seem like either was going to take their bow and disappear, rather remaining there, letting us dwellers below watch in awe, as the two giants were sharing the centre stage together, without qualm.

Up there in the high skies, the moon spies us

“The moon is always shining, up there in the high skies, even if it is not so bright” Gun Roswell

Up there in the high skies, the moon spies us

The day bright and full with sunshine, the skies blue as can be, but there is one thing so totally off and perhaps even wrong, as there is something up there too, mixing with the calmest and coolest of hues. Any that, is the dimly lit moon, hovering above us all, not afraid to fall, over the horizon, where it as supposed to be for at least the time of day, when the sun should be the one to dominate, but it seems today, that is not the case. As if being an opposite kind and of a day, with the nightly vision hanging there, as by someone’s decision to leave it up there, for whatever purpose it might serve, no one really knows, but as long as the winds blow and the earth keeps on rotating like it is supposed to, there really is no reason for panic, even if this is not going as planned, and perhaps this unusual event is not to prevent the sun from shining, rather enhancing the experience for us dwellers on the ground.

The blue side of the moon

“The moon in the blue sky – isn’t it a tad too early for it to be showing?“ Gun Roswell

The blue side of the moon

It was still too early, the skies all blue and surly, as if being unaware of the stalker out there, doing its thing, even if it was not the time for the moon to sing. So, the question remained as to why this keeper of light of the darkened night, was now out there at this time of day and in plain sight no less, rather careless on its part?

Investigating this odd behaviour seemed rather moot, as getting up there in the tall heavens themselves and asking the question even was rather difficult without a spaceship or even a rocket. But, maybe, simply observing the skies for a moment, an hour, a day, even a month, would give some insight as to the why.

But, after a week the skies remaining blue and sleek, and the moon? Well, it too had emerged there, each and every day, as if proving it could and there was no further dismay of that happening. So, the thing now, for the mere mortals below, as to accept the simple fact, that the moon behaved like it wanted, and despite being out there with the sun, there was no harm to those remaining on the ground.

The lesson learnt here might have been, to simply accept, adore what up there can be seen, even if it is a moon in broad daylight, just keep looking at it, and smile!

The Moon again

“La Luna, The Moon, La Lune, Kuu, the sacred child has many names, and who can blame, it’s picture perfect the way she hangs out there in the night sky” Gun Roswell

The Moon again

She hangs there again, with her many friends. The stars. They are like some sort of a celestial gang. A tough one at that. But they only come out at night. Well, mostly. As I have seen them sometimes too, when there is light. But mostly, she and her posse seem to be nocturnal. And why do I know this? Well, you see, I keep a journal. Not that I’m a stalker, no far from it. I just like the shape of her, the craters, the dust, the overall sensation of mystery. After all, there is only so much you can see, while peeping through a telescope. But the best of it, is what is not visible, the dark side. As she totally has one. Something she will never reveal to us mere mortals. At least until we get a spaceship out there and then all of us can stare at the revelation. Still, I prefer to live in the fantasy, going beyond reality. Imagining only all those magical things she is hiding from us now. And that is how, she is still, the favourite.

Two lights in the night sky

“In the darkened night, it is hard to get by, at least, without a flashlight, you know!” Gun Roswell

Two lights in the night sky

The path ahead as dark as the night itself, as I very well forgot to take a torch with me on this journey across the swell of the nightly scenery, as during the day, it is an easy thing, just a step, hop and a skip really, but the feeling in the middle of the night, especially without any kind of guiding light, is pretty difficult and could leave to a misstep and maybe even in a ditch or so I had been told.

So, threading lightly as in quite carefully, I was beginning to panic as I noted dully, that I had been on the road for a long, long moment, maybe even to the fault, of getting myself lost. But then, as I was starting to loose all hope, I could see a light, in the distance. A faint one at that, but it looked friendly enough, so deciding to steer clear and onwards with that thought, I had brought, new hope again into myself.

As I kept on going, another more stronger light appeared, from above it seemed to steer, as the path in front of me had become lit like the proverbial Christmas tree. And in knew right there and then, to trust this one from the very beginning it had shone on and let me move along, until I reached the safety of my home street, lit up with a lamp so neat.

But as I looked up, I could see the shining planetary object, the moon shining with full force and I knew I had scored, a safe trip to my home which was beyond of being very thankful to the bright moon leering at me cheerfully from above.

The two faces of the moon today

“The moon is either hidden or visible, with so many sides to it, crescent, half and even full“ Gun Roswell

The two faces of the moon today

The moon stood proud without any kind of shroud covering its face in the blue skies, right in the middle of day light, even if it had been several hours for it to already say good night despite the morning hours, but due to its nature, the day was the moon’s sleeping time. Still, guess the all mighty and powerful sun did not mind, for a bit of a competition of the admiration kind as the moon now visible was almost blending into the blue hues as enhanced by the sun’s bright light.

But during the night, when all others had most likely gone to sleep, into a slumber so deep as it was totally quiet all over the globe, except from the sound of the sparkling stars high up in the night skies. But, they were not a match, to the almost fully formed patch, glued most likely permanently to dark canvas, showing off its better side of the face, always keeping the other side hidden, but hey, for those of us worshippers totally smitten, this side was always nice to see.
