“Always keeping up the facade” Gun Roswell
Façades (4)
A messy situation
When the summer arrives
Rest assured, there will be some vibes
And not the good kind you’ll see
As all the streets as torn in to pieces
There are pipes or cables to be laid
The tram routes to be straightened
Something else, which I just now cannot think of
But surely, there is no corner, not ripped off
The busy city centre streets in summer
There is only one word to describe it: Bummer!
But somehow we, the dwellers, still manage
To run, walk and shop, around in the messy facades, as we have lots of courage
May Our Lovely Garden Planet Be a Better Place for All! 🖐

This reminds me of Sydney at the moment, streets ripped up (for the trams you mention!) and building construction everywhere, it seems, yet still we must wade through it all to work and to home.

Helsinki is like this every summer, must be because of the long winter, when all is frozen for months on end😜

Oh of course, I tend to forget about extreme cold (despite growing up in Canada). Does the work just pause in winter?

It sure seems that way! Especially in the centre of the city, the streets are opened immediately after the frost has gone. It seems, there is so much work to be done underground it’s unbelievable!

Also unbelievable how long it takes, at least with Sydney’s new tram line. I don’t how overdue and over budget it is so far.
